My friend Eddie sent me a blade and it arrived a few days ago. It’s a mighty fine piece of steel let me tell ya. I was really excited to work on something so nice.
Thanks Eddie.

You did good, Jon, is that Walnut?

Sure is. From a bunch of stuff I think Shannon left us. I had a small piece of it and it looked like it would go just right on it. :)

That sure is a beauty...gonna go out to my shop and find some walnut to work on! All I need is a nice homemade blade!

Oh yea! that's a nice combonation. I knew you would do something with it quicker than me.
-
That's a real nice looking skinner. Any idea what types of steel in the damascus? I like the way those low layer-count steels look.
-
Nope sorry, no idea what type steel. :embarassed:
-
Well done buddy!

Beautiful knife.

That is too nice for a southern boy, better send it up north. B Dan PS Jon do you remember what color feathers you wanted on those shafts. 1 black and 2 red or was it 2 black and 1 red. Also next time you see Art, ask him if the arrows he shot of mine were OK for length. Thanks
-
Great work!! both the knife and the sheeth are excellent. Excuse my stupid question but how do you get the steel to look like that with all of the swirls a such? Thanks for shareing!

Two Red one black Brother Dan.
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
-
Josh; Damascus steel is made by hammering and folding the steel on top of itself hundreds of times. What you see is the different layers after you grind it.
-
Nice looking knife. You are correct in that the walnut looks great with the balde.
