After meeting so many great people from this website I'm not suprised anymore when I meet another nice guy from the site. George Stoneburg came into town Friday to see his Dad And I was hoping we could get on some hogs while he was here. I put corn out in the grove where they had been eating the tangerines Friday morning and we hit it at Daylight Saturday morning.
The weather was perfect, light misty rain, a cold front moving through and big ol' gallon nipper mosquitos. :D We moved through the grove checking all the spots that I had dumped corn. I was amazed that none of it had been touched and there was only two sets of fresh tracks since the rain started. Looked like a boar hog looking for sows that had just wandered around.
We jumped in the Jeep and drove to another grove that usually has hogs, deer and turkeys. No luck there either. So we went back to the first grove and George played tourist. I wish I could have put him on some hogs but did get to meet a swell guy and at least get him some Tangerines and a little rock. Maybe next time. :)

Awesome....good to meet the fine folks on here.

Looks like you entertained that tourist well. He does talk kinda funny >:D but he is a super nice guy.
Sounds like y'all had a fun time.

Cipriano;
I tried, we didn't have a lot of time, George had some prior commitments. I had hoped the hogs would have cooperated ::)

Man, how'd I miss this??! Thanks Eddie, I had a great time. I chase hogs a lot at home so it wasn't a big deal that we didn't see them. Those skeeters were impressive though and persistent. Looking at your arrowhead collection made me think I need to make some display cases. I enjoyed that a lot! I 'm anxious to make a point with that beautiful coral. Had to take out a some tangerines to make room for it. Dad will eat them. Thanks again.

Thanks, George. If you come back again I'll try to line up hunting on the ranch down south if you have time. And if you want to give your Dad my number I'll keep him in citrus as long as it's ripe. Also, you should post some pictures of his Scroll Saw work, it's amazing.

Just made it home Eddie. Thanks again, it was a fun trip. I did try to pack too much into 4 days. I'll try to do a much longer trip next time. Let me know if/when you get in Texas. Would like to take you out for our brand of hog hunting. Here are those pictures of Dad's scroll saw work. He amazes me, sharp eyed and steady handed at 88 years old. He told me he's only been doing it 7 years.

Sorry for the double post. Eddie, I couldn't help myself, had to go chip on a piece of your rock. Made a crooked little point out of the remainder of that broken knife blade. Was in too much of a hurry and didn't get the symmetry right. Blew out the notch in the bottom too. It's only 90 grains, came out nice and thin. I like that rock. :D

What kinda stone is that? Looks like keokuk.
-
That point still looks sharp, that's what counts. That's the coral piece isn't it?
-
I thought that one was coral but wasn't sure. It's definitely sharp, but I put off making it the right shape for too long. I'm sure he'll kill something, but I doubt I can make an arrow spin true with that on the front. ::)

All you have to do is get the tip aligned with the nock, George. Or get a real close shot.
-
I wonder if the hogs are going to put out "twinkies" to lure in bowhunters who are picking "their" tangerines!
-
If they do....it'll work for sure, at least on one of them. 8)
