Title: Getting it down
Post by: GooseGossett on September 21, 2011, 03:19:25 pm
Thanks Cowboy for the suggestion to abrade.  Worked one up this morning and it turned out swell for my standards.  Abraded and flaked after scrunching to a very general shape.  Still working on the thinning part.  I also drew the outline on the opposite side that I was flaking as I went.  Helped a bunch.  Thanks for the info.  Now that I tried it and like it I might go after the pretty rock next.

I like it.  It's fun to see others on the same learning curve I'm on.

Yes Sir,

Nice looking point.

I'm getting the pressrue flaking down better.
But I am impatient and forget to abrade...  :(
And my biggest problem at persent is going from rock to preform.
Also Thinning... and getting my support right.

But I love the sound of a good flake detaching.    ;D

That looks good and they'll only get better with time. I was cleaning out the shop last weekend and came across a pile of points i made in the beginning. Some are thick, some ain't too bad, some are broken in half - lot's of memories there. You'll be lookin back one day :).

Amen ! When I look at some of my first points there short, thick ,& not very symetrical, but there mine & my first ones! Iwouldent trade them for 100 LBS of good rock. I like it. Its a good point.
