This the first bow I have made in a while. The bow is a bamboo backed osage with bamboo stain job, bubinga riser and ebony tip overlays. The bow is 58 inches tip to tip, inch and a half wide and narrows down to half inch at the tips. The bow is 58#@26 inches, with 7 inches of static tips it is a hard hitter.

Nice looking bow, you did a real good job on the tiller, a little more on the bottom limb and you would have been in trouble. I'm glad to see ;) you favor pink.

Very Cool! Well done! Did I miss the stain allong you talked about doing at one time? ;D

Thanks Mullet and Josh.

is it me or do those recurves look to be working a bit?
-
Looks like it to me. I'd like to see an unstrung picture. My trade bow had a tip that looked like that and it definitely bent at full draw. Mine was more D/R than recurved and this one looks like that to me too. Either way, a beautiful bow.

Thanks for the compliments everybody,I put 7 inches of recurve on it and after shooting it a while it lost a lot of it,but the memory is still there.

I don't see any static..looks like flip tips...not sure about the tiller either..appears to bend out the handle and hardly any where else..but I will say I think it is a fine bow...looks like a shooter....gut

You're right, Gutpile, it really is a recurve. For a first bow I'm impressed. There are a few things you can do to it to improve and that is what this site is about. One is clean up the tiller, it was border line hinging, upper limb is tillered, almost like a RF/DF, (folding over at the fade) and the bottom is eliptical like a recurve, and almost hinging. Also, take those tips down a little smaller. That's stuff you start to learn after you have built more than a few. But,, it is Osage and it will probablly shoot forever, and if it was my first one I'd be real happy it was a shooter and looked this good.

Mullet correct me if I am wrong but since the string does not lay on the limb when strung ...how can it be a recurve.....IMO it is a longbow profile with flipped tips...it has a very nice braced profile.I like it..and I agree for the first bow he did a great job..you can't find a better group of guys than here to learn bow building...I too would be extremely happy with that bow.....and your points are dead on...gut
