Title: Tiller check please
Post by: wvarcher on August 20, 2011, 11:16:39 pm
This is my 3rd Hickory pyramid bow.  It is 66"  ttt.  Two inches wide at the fades tapering to 3/8ths" tips.  The right limb is the top limb and it is 1.5" longer than the bottom limb.  Top pic shows the bow drawn to 22 inches and 39lbs.  Want to end up with 50lb @ 27".  Sorry about the poor picture quality.  Thanks for looking and any help

bottom limb is a tad stiff mid limb to tip other than that it looks great.
not sure if the asymetrical limbs are tillered different ive always used equal limb length on mine . so this might not be much help

Thanks, Ken.  I have a 1" square piece of wood with a screw in the middle i slide along the belly to find weak and stiff spots.  It shows me the same thing you see.  I really had to remove a lot of wood on both outer limbs to get them bending???  Thats about all the tillering ive done with this bow other than a flat spot midlimb on the right/top limb.  Forgot to mention that the wood is quarter sawn and the back is trapped.
