Title: Winged Elm,in the works
Post by: Pappy on August 17, 2011, 08:54:54 am
Finely got back on my W.Elm. I had it out to 20 then put it back on the form for
heat treating the belly and flipped the tips.It should be ready to finish the tillering
by the weekend. I like to give them about a week after the heat treating. It is my first Winged Elm and so far pretty impressed with it's spring and action. I will keep ya updated as I move along on it. :) I have the tip over lays glued on,Just need to file in groves before I finish the tiller. It was 46 at 20 inches ,I am shooting for 50 or so @ 26. I think it should do that with no problem. It is 64 ntn.  :)

Looking great Pappy!  It that sequence your normal build MO?  I am getting ready to flip the tips on a short Osage bow but haven't tillered it down yet.  My last one I also tillered after I had formed in the static recurves on the tips

Thanks a ton~

That elm makes a great bow, doesn't it Pappy. I was impressed with the 60" static recurve I made earlier this year. I will make another.
  She looks good!!!  8)

Thanks, this is one Greg,Shannon and myself cut spring 2010 and I have been fooling around with it since before the Classic, Just can't seem to find the time to finish one,I hope to stay on this one and get it done before Hunting season. I have a lot of distractions seems like. ;) ;D ;D Ya Pat yours turned out sweet and TimO said he made a few that really shot good. It seems to be very springy wood when you keep it dry. :)
