I wanted to build a special bow for my wilderness elk hunt this fall so I picked through my small stash of Osage and selected a pair of billets that Tim Ott had graciously sent me a few years ago. The bow is 64 ntn and draws 60# @ 27. Limbs are 1 ½ wide tapering to just under ½ at the tips. The tips are made from an elk shed that I found on the Oregon coast and the handle is made from elk hide that was harvested from an animal from the same area. The tips were flipped up slightly using dry heat and I backed the limbs with diamond back snake skins. The quiver was made by Steve Catts using a wolverine that a friend of mine killed in Alaska.
I dont often work with Osage because it is hard to get out here, but sure enjoy it when I do. I hope you like the bow.

Really pretty bow Gordon. Nice and clean with a good arc. Always a joy to see your work and pictures.

Beautiful bow... the quiver is a bit extreme.

The best of luck and adventure on your hunt, Love your bow as always. Osage does rock.
-
that bow is sweet-but man, that quiver is frigging amazing!
-
Gordon, I think the elk will line up to see that beauty! I love the characteristics of osage also. Love chasing a ring.
-
I don't think I've seen an osage bow made by you. Fantastic! Beautiful work, nice attention to detail, and great full draw profile. The takedown sleeve blends in really so well that I was quite surprised to see it in two pieces in the last pic. Good luck on the hunt!
John
(and I'm torn on the quiver. It's a bit over the top for my tastes, but it's still an awesome piece.)
-
As always, your bow is stunning! It's a pleasure looking at your work! The quiver is.... interesting. I think Del said it... extreme.
-
As always - very slick Gordon. Beautiful! That almost looks like a live wolverine on your back like he's weighing you down almost :).
-
Great bow and the take down pic caught me by surprise! Who knew? Nice elk set up.
-
That is my favorite bow Ive seen from you Gordon! Absolutely beautiful!!! You are truly an inspiration! Thanks for sharing! :) :) :)
-
absolutly beautiful bow. it should do a number on the elk with that profile. Good luck on you hunt. I hope my takedown comes out half this nice. Great job
-
I think this is the first time I've seen an osage bow from you. Excellent work as always.
The quivewr is awesome. I had heard that Mr. Catts did beautiful work. Very nice knife too.
Good luck on your hunt.
-
Thank you all for the really nice compliments. I debated about whether to include pictures of the quiver - I hope no one is offended by it.
-
no way bud that quiver is awsome if only I could figure out how to make one
-
Gordon Friend, each arc you do, is more beautiful than the last, I really congratulate these works of art that have amazed me.
greetings my friend
-
I debated about whether to include pictures of the quiver - I hope no one is offended by it.
I'm sure all the Forum Members that are also enrolled, dues paying PETA members will hold their comments out of respect. >:D
The only problem with hunting with a bow like that is it leaves only one excuse for missing....operator error! Not sure how the elk feel about it, but if I ever get shot by a bow, I want it to be one like yours.
-
Thanks JW but it's not the PETA types I'm worried about (I'm sure there are none of those on this site). Wolverines are an endangered species in the lower 48 and some might be offended for that reason. But wolverines are plentiful in Alaska and are legal to hunt and trap there.
-
If taken legally and ethically there shouldn't be a problem. Love the quiver!
-
I admit I was sorta freaked out at that wolf (wolverine, rather) on your back! The side-view pic makes you look like a modern-day Daniel Boone. A good thing, in my book. Have fun with the bow, and I hope you get at least a couple of elk this year. Good luck!
-
very nice as always . good candidate for august self bow
-
great work as always
-
Great looking bow as usual, Gordon. Can't wait to see it in person.

Gordon you are an incredible bowyer my friend. I was wondering when you were going to post that beauty. Exceptional in every way and a take down as well. Just doesn't get any better. Would love to see ya bring down an elk with that one.
Guys I've seen that quiver up close at it really is amazing!
-
Gordon, that bow is simply amazing. And I would kill for that quiver. That is one of the finest looking hunting sets I've ever seen.
-
Hey Weylin, we missed you on Friday. Hopefully you can make it out next week.
Keenan you are much too kind. With all you have taught me about calling in elk, I'm hopeful that this is the year.
Thank you all again for your really kind words.
