This is the bow that I made for Dvshunter. She is a Yew self bow with a mild Deflex/Reflex. 62" NTN and 58 lbs. @ 2? inches. The snake skin backing is one snake, killed by my brother in NE Texas. The tips are Ram horn. Pushed the deadline but hope you think she's worth the wait.

If that made you sooo happy I will pretend I don't know, and you can make one for me ;D ;D ;D.
Love that yew, might have to try to find me some-a-that...
-
Blacktail, This was the yew stave you gave me .
Del, Falling in love with the bows you make is part of the addiction. Giving them away therapy. ;D
Pat, The snake was a blueish black with some occasional red spots down the side, This one was 5'1" and he sent another that was more of a reddish tone that was 5"7"
Gordon. You once said that you "love to see the look on their face when you give someone a bow". I dwell on that comment occasionally and even though I can't be there when he opens it, I thought of that moment often while building it. ;)
-
Awesome work as always Keenan ,your bows are truely inspirational ,somebodys gonna be very happy-Hammertime

Keenan I am pretty new to bow making, only built five, but this is the second time your work has knocked me back a step.
Went into rolling my own 'cause I felt I knew what I wanted and what I liked, mainly straight and plain workhorse bows. After studying the work of Halfeye I realized the curves and bends served a serious purpose and with a big boost from him have begun using some of his technique.
But your ability to create art in a fine functioning weapon is a skill that very few can attain. You and maybe two others (that I have seen) have taken the art to a level so far above the norm that I ain't even jealous nor do I want to emulate it. It's enough just to know it's there and that it can be done. And for that, I thank you.

I'd have to say thats a nice bow.

Too late to join the bow trade over here? Sweet bow Keenan, wonderful lines and details plus it looks like a real hunter to me.
-
Unforunatly yes it is to late now next year around jan. is when the next one will be held. ;D
-
That is a very fine bow.....the person that receives it is blessed.
-
I think Johnston said it best. Beautiful work of art Keenan. Thanks

Fairly typical of your work, start with substandard stave, rough it in with a rusty pick axe, pull the ten minute tiller routine with a dull cabinet scraper made from a discarded hub cap, no use sanding all those character marks left from repeated scrubbings with a 29 cent farriers rasp you picked up from a senile old goat at the local flea market, slap some rotting snake skin on the back to hold down those pesky splinters, stick on a couple tip overlays whittled from black legos you swiped from some unsuspecting neighbor kids toy box, and for the coupe de grois dump some clotted tru oil on her to " pretty it up". Yeh you should be real proud of that one!
Just trying to give a little balance to this thread.
It really is a work of art. Nicely done!
