Well, my first one took a dump on me. Lifted a splinter where the riser was, picture below. So I started over with the same wood combination but decided to go with a bending handle. I've made several of these bows, but this is my best so far, I think. It's a bit overweight for the trade, but I've already brought it down quite a bit and it's shooting SUPER. It's 67" and easily 60#, hick/ipe with buffallo tips. Time to finish it up and put it in the mail, no time to spare!

Sad to see the first one splinter, but that bendy handle bow looks great. Love the Ipe/Hickory combo! Nicely done, and just in time too! ;D

sweet full draw shot Parnell. I love that combo for a bow, looks like a winner.

Perfect tiller on that one - can't ask for better than that.

I agree. The tiller is excellent. I like the wood combo too. Looks cool. Nice job.

Looks great Parnell! Great tiller, and nice looking wood combo. Just think, if the first one didn't lift a splinter, this one would probably not exist :)
I want one of those ;D

The bow was sent so keep an eye out!
Here are a few pictures of the finished bow.

Great bend on that one! ;)

Thanks Timo and everyone. Timo, I gave your racquet handle wrap a go. Turned out pretty good and it is a comfortable grip. Everything gets better each time its done, right?!
I'll miss that one, but looking forward to it being received.

That looks great your recipient will love it! I am starting tillering on my first BBI and was curious how much set your bow took?

Thanks Pappy.
Elktracker, I've made probably 8 bows like this. If the tillering goes smoothly they take around an inch, I've found. I don't even consider it really, because bows like this can be very healthy and keep there speed even in really hot humid conditions.
Even my first one that was about 3/4 an inch wide and 65" long, backed with a maple board is still shooting really well and has over an inch of set.
Hope yours turns out great.
