Marius has written an article for PA about how wonderful all of us Americans are! ;D ::) Actually it is his account of the Tenn. Classic from the eyes of a foreign visitor. Marius need some pics to go along with his article so if anyone has any they would like to share with him, and PA, it would be appreciated. I have some but the pic size is too small for publishing to the magazine. Mine are 640x480 and around 150 thing-a-ma-jigs and PA need them to be 300 thing-a-ma-jigs or better. These should be pics that would relate to Marius, his bows and gifts and of the whole gang. Thanks, Pat
ps. Sarah, Don't you have some that will work. Dick is also sending some to ED to go through.
-
I have a bunch but they are probably to small also. They have been down sized to post here.
I guess I could make them larger the same way I made them small if I need to.Just don't know how to send them that way. :)I am a true high tec red neck. ;D
Pappy

Pappy the problem with JPEG picture file format is everytime you save it the file size gets smaller and smaller
and the picture quality deteriorates also. JPEG format uses a file compression method so when ya save them repeatidly
it keeps compressing them smaller each time. If you want to make them bigger you should probobly open them in a photoeditor program
and resave them in a GIF format then resize them to a higher pixel size and then save them.
Clear as mudd eh ::)
-
I will send him a bunch. I always use the "save as" option and rename the pictures. This way I can keep the original size picture. I usually do something like have the original picture named "Cody's bow 32" and name the small picture "Cody's bow 132". I suggest that everyone do this so if you ever want to make a printed copy, the quality is good enough. Justin
-
I usually do the same as Justin, and take the originals at a bigger size and then save a resized copy to post online. At the Tenn. Classic, however, my camera got set on 640 X 480 and I didn't realize it until I downloaded the pics. So I have a bunch, but they're all 640X480. They should be high enough resolution, though.
-
Guys, It might make things simpler if you send them dirrectly to Ed Ingold. Maybe lable them for Marius Fara's PA article and let Ed sort them. Pat
-
I was using Justin's camera to take pics that weekend. I dont have those pics.
-
DanaM you got my head swimming on that one :-[ :-[ I just didn't know who I was dealing with here,Yall sure don't look that smart in person. ;D ;)
Pappy
-
The other thing to consider when resizing is that you can crop first. Why not get rid of 1200x1200 megapixels of useless fuzzy background. Then you aren't decreasing the quality of what you actually took the picture of by as much. Justin
-
640x480 won't be enough resolution for a quality picture in the magazine, good enuf for the internet but
not a print unless small in size. I recomment that you save an original as a GIF format then you can edit all you want
without losing picture quality then you can use the "Save As" command if ya want to post them.
Pappy I shure ain't that smart but I've been forced to work with computers for the last 20 years something has to sink in eventually.
Most 8 year olds are more computer savvy than me ;D
BTW can't wait for Marius's article should be excellent
-
I will send what I have. I have 4 years worth...I can send Pappy and Greg through the years and make it look like they aged by the end of the event! ;D Justin too bad you deleted the latrines...clean as Pappy keeps them it would draw even more people! ;)
-
I just e-mailed Ed to warn him about a flood of pics coming from the hoard. Too bad mine are too small. I have a good one of Marius that he would hate for me to post. Pat
-
ooooh try anyway Pat... just for the fun of it...or just post it here for our entertainment! ;)
-
Marie, I have one of Marius at the "out" outdoor latrene. ;D It is in a zip file I am sending Ed.
Dick
-
That's the reason we don't allow camera's at Cloverdale after dark. ;D ;D
Pappy
-
What happens at Cloverdale, stays at Cloverdale...or least is supposed too! ;D
-
with friends like dick and pat, who needs enemies? ;D first they lure you in by offering to share their trailer with you, but the only purpose is to obtain embarrassing pictures of you, which are going to be published WORLDWIDE. thanks guys ;D
-
Marius, Your very welcome. Can't wait till next yeat, A "moon" shot. :o Heaven forbid. ;D
Dick
-
Not me! ;D I have respected your wishes ;)...so far ::) Pat
-
so, has anybody sent any pictures? (other than the embarrassing one by dick bernier ;D )
-
Marius, I have some decent ones, but they're all 640X480, should be good resolution, though. I'd be glad to send them if they think they can use them at that size.
-
We'd have to ask Ed that question! Have you checked with him? Pat
-
Here's what Ed said:
"Marius, Do you have the photos you mentioned to accompany your article submitted to Primitive Archer Magazine? If so would you please send them to me as e-mail attachments. Because we require high resolution (300ppi or greater) please send them as large files, (somewhere near 1MB if possible). "
-
Marius, doesn't seem like you're having a lot of luck with the pics. Come on by the club this weekend, and we'll take some more pictures for you... ;D
-
thanks greg, i appreciate the offer. but in reality you just want to see two-deer again, right? that bow is getting a lot of admiration, wherever i show it.
anyway, i was hoping dick bernier had sent his pictures to ed, but with the surgery and all, he may have forgotten.
-
I have a bunch of pictures of the classic but they may be to small.I down size them to post on here.If they will work,or if some one can tell me how to change them back I would be glad to.I use picture manager and can change them I think.Someone let me know if I can or not.I have all of them saved in a file. ??? :)
Pappy
-
They can be resized to larger but in JPEG format everytime you save the picture file they lose some quality.
JPEG automatically compress the file each time you save. But they may still be good enuf quality anyway.
You can actually resave them into nothing. It seems to me that someone at PA out to be able to figure a way.
::) :-\ :( ???
ugh chipin picture ina cav wall ugh oh wait wrong forum ;D

Them are some good pictures,I don't know if I have any like that. They can't use them ?
Pappy
-
i'm afraid not. most of these are around 100 KB. ed ingold wanted them around 1 MB. i guess the resolution is not good enough for print media.
-
ed ingold wanted them around 1 MB. i guess the resolution is not good enough for print media.
Hmm....Marius, I wouldn't think they would want good resolution pics of you in PA! ;D ;D ;D
-
Marie or Sarah should have pics also. Check with them. Pat
-
I talked with Ed Ingold the editor on Wednesday. He wants pictures for Marius's story. I will have to check to see what I have. I didn't take too many this year. I have 4 years worth and we could show GregB's and Pappy's age progression...but Lennie took pics. He needs higher resolution than you are able to post and he wants as many as possible so he can choose. He doesn't want them compressed (I think that is the term)
I will send what I have but Justin took some I just don't know if he lowered the resolution on his camera. He needs them soon as possible...Anyone?
Even if you just have one or two send them via email to editor@primtivearcher.com and note on there Tenn. Classic for Marius's story.
-
I keep trying to send them, but I keep getting a failure code. Justin
-
Marius, I have about 50 pics of the Classic, including the originals of several of mine that you just posted, but they're all 640x480, not many much over 200mb. I usually keep my camera set on a higher resolution, but it got switched somehow down there. I'll send some of the biggest files, and see if they can do anything with 'em.
-
my thanks to all of you. your willingness to help is just a continuation of my wonderful experiences in tennessee.
-
Marius I captured 2 of the pics from this thread and enlarged them to 1640x1230 pixels and 350 dpi. I don't know
how well this works they look fine on my computer screen but don't know how well they will print. Want me to e-mail them to ya
or to to the editor? If this works I would be happy to do them all for ya.
-
thanks dana. i would appreciate it, if you could send them to ed, to see if he can use them. thanks again. by the way, shouldn't you be in bed right now? ;D
-
Yes I should be in bed but I'm a lousy sleeper don't have to be to work for 3 hours yet >:(
If Ed can use them you can e-mail what you want fixed and I will enlarge them ok.
-
OK Marius, I finally got them loaded onto the web so they can look through them all. 78 pictures at 2.5-3.5 MB. They can sort through and pick what they want. Justin
-
Marius I sent the resized pics to Ed , he said they would work. I will PM you my e-mail send all ya want and I will fix em ok
-
Dana, I'll send some of my best ones if you can work your magic on them. I've got photoshop, but I haven't been able to upsize pics with much success qualitywise.
-
y'all are awesome.
-
e-mail is dana1@chartermi.net
Send away guys, but please don't get carried away. Marius got yer pics will I have 4 days off comin up will get busy on them ok.
I'm happy to help in any way I can afterall we are all brothers right ;D
-
Marius I decided to have a thrid cup of coffee and get yer pics done before work. Their on their way to Ed.
Its 6 AM and I will still be an hour early for work, sure wish I was one of them people that sleeps in :-\ ::)
-
thanks brother. this forum never ceases to amaze me. it's lunch time here and as y'all may have noticed, i can access the site from work. i think it started monday and i wonder how long before they block me again. ;D anyway, this article thing is turning into another community project. i love it.
-
Hmm....Marius, I wouldn't think they would want good resolution pics of you in PA!
Marius, I didn't really mean the comment above...still trying to get even with you and Justin for that time a while back that I once again stuck my foot in my mouth and you guys nailed me! ;D
I can't ever get any satisfaction if you don't at least acknowledge that I'm trying to give you a hard way to go! ;D ;D ;D
-
You are such a nice guy Greg. You cant even kid around without apologizing. We should all be a little more that way. BTW Didn't your momma tell you that the best way to deal with people who are teasing is to ignore them. Now you know it works. Justin
-
i remember that comment. couldn't stop laughing and laughing ;)
you are going to have to work real "hard" to get them all back Greg for that one! ;) :o
and for goodness sake don't apologize! ;D
-
Wasn't it something about being stiff in the morning ;D after working at Pappy's of course ;)
-
:-X :-X :-X ;) ;D
-
Greg ya should have left the sleeping dog lie! ;D
-
sorry greg. like justin said, acknowledging your comment would have elevated it's importance ;D you'll have to try harder. but i have an "on-topic" suggestion for you: get hold of that infamous picture, dick took of me one mornig and post it here. then you're not only even, you're ahead. ;D
yeah, and quit apologizing ;D
-
Does anyone have more pics for Marius if so e-mail them to me and I will fix them and forward to Ed at PA.
dana1@ chartermi.net

Greg ya should have left the sleeping dog lie!
Yeah, he woke up in a biting mood didn't he? :) That was the comment Dana, thanks for refreshing all our memories! ;D
you are going to have to work real "hard" to get them all back Greg for that one!
It's going to take "stiff" discipline on my part...but I promise I'll work real "hard" to get at least even with you guys, if not drive ahead. ;)
-
;D ;D ;D
-
Greg your a chucklehead! ;D
-
Greg your a chucklehead!
I'm sorry... ;D
-
Marius. I have that picture! ;D ...but I promised you not to show it. ::) Pat
-
you could probably sell it to greg and fund your next trip to the classic ;D that way, you wouldn't even brake your promise, since it would be greg posting it. ;D
has anybody heard from ed ingold? can he use the pictures that were sent so far?
-
Marius I sent the ones you sent me to him, drop him am e-mail and see.
-
you could probably sell it to greg and fund your next trip to the classic that way, you wouldn't even brake your promise, since it would be greg posting it.
Pat, I'll pay you for it in gold...gold osage that is. ;D
That's got to be an "offer you can't refuse", and Marius has already practically given permission to post the picture. You've been waiting for the right opportunity to post it, or you would have already deleted it by now! ;)
Come on...the world is waiting...
-
I have a copy of that pic too bwah hah ha ha ;D I see a financial opportunity :)
-
I have a copy of that pic too bwah hah ha ha I see a financial opportunity
The first to post the pic receives an osage stave at the classic next year! ;)
-
Durn, I'm at work and it's on my computer at home. Pat, you didn't see Greg's post.........you are getting very sleepy..........your eyelids droop...........count backwards from 100.............at 1 you will awaken and have no recollection of Greg's post............also, you will think you are a chicken and you will feel the compulsion to make vast quantities of nice osage bows and give them to Hillbilly.......... ;D
-
i must admit, i have the best friends in the world (too bad, you guys are not amongst them) ;D selling me out like that. you should be ashamed. my humiliation is deffinitely worth more than a stave. ;D
-

Friends have to kid around with each other...right? :) Besides, if the pic gets posted we won't be laughing at you, but with you! You will be laughing won't you? ;D At least a smile even if grudgingly. ;)
-
of course i will, greg. ;D you should have seen me laugh when i first saw the picture. i looked kinda stiff on it too, but it was early in the morning, so i guess that's excusable ;D i hear it happens quite frequently in that part of the country ;D
-
What, Being stiff in the morning? ::) Pat
-
I know I am. ;D ;D Here we go again. ;D ;D ;D
Pappy
-
yes pat. ;D not the other one ;D
thanks for confirming, pappy ;D that way greg doesn't feel singled out ;D
-
Dick sent me some pics Marius including the infamous one ;D I would post it to clain
Gregs bounty but its not mine to do so. I will do what I can with them and send them on.
-

-
i'd say i've already gotten my stave (and then some) at this year's classic, but thanks for your generous offer. if at all possible i'll be there. who knows what kind of pics we'll end up with? ;D
-
all my e-mails to ed ingold are coming back undeliverable. could somebody please check with him and see if he can use the pictures he's received so far?

-
Marius send them to Sarah@primitivearcher.com she will hold them until his email is back up. He will be offline for the next 10 days.
