I went to our bi-weekly 3-D shoot, took the grandson and shot my new, favorite bow, getting ready for the hog hunt in July. I shot this bow there 2 weeks ago, 40 targets and a bunch of practice ramge, along with a lot of shooting at the house.
Well, after lunch we were shooting the second round and on target #4, KABLAAM! The upper limb landed 20' away and the rest smacked me on the cheek. All I could think of at that moment was, "This sucks!" There is a small pin knot and a swirl in the wood where it let go. The only thing I can think of is the heat or humidity changed, and it did, and the wood didn't like it.

Sorry to hear!!!!.....and hard to look at!! :'(
-
Sorry to see that :( Sure was nice looking. Do you take an extra bow with ya?
-
That's a bummer :'(, but at least it died in action rather than having a truck reverse over it or a lumbering fool overdraw it to show how tough he is.
Still, on the plus side it's an excuse to make another ;D

Hate it when that happens, and that one was a beauty.
-
Hillbilly, yea, had my old stand by, sinew backed osage.
Del, what I hated the most was I didn't make this one, It was a gift from Ryan O'Sullivan at the Tenn. Classic this year. Damn, it sure shot sweet!
-
dang, sorry to hear this Mullet...least you weren't at full draw with a PO'd hawg facing you down ::)
-
That was indeed a beautiful bow , Eddie. I guess it can happen no matter how good the boyer.

That does suck, Eddie. Ask Ryan about the warrenty. ::) I watched Ryan finish that one up at the Classic.
-
That is a major bummer Eddie. :( Seen that one at the Classic as well and it sure looked like an awesome bow. Ryan poured allot of hert into making that one for ya. Such is the way of the bow. :(
-
Yea, Pat. You, my wife and everybody did, and new it was for me. I didn't know, and it was special. I actually cut that piece of wood.
-
Keenan, it was an awsome bow, It was going to be my hunting bow this year.
-
That is a shame, but it happens.I've shot them until I just knew they would never bust, and then? It happens.
What kind of wood was that Mullet?
-
That's a shame. It could have been worse, one of those sharp chunks could have hit you pointy end first. Glad you got out of it without injury. Bill
-
Bummer Eddie at least it didn't poke you in the eye. Sorry to hear about it bud.Ron
-
Yea, I was lucky, it just smacked me in the cheek. Tim, the wood is yellow Guava. I'm going to find some more, now.
-
Eddie, we all have bows break. Hopefully, they break on the t tree. I think I've had a half dozen break at full draw. May be a few more. I'm glad you were not hurt. Jawge
-
Now that does suck,To bad but I bet you got plenty more bows. :) :) What was that one made of ?

Ive done that before. :( Real sorry man... But thats the glory of makin your own. Back to the ol drawin board... ;)
-
Didn't I fall in love with this bow over the paintjob on it's back just recently? Aw man, how sad!
-
man that sucks :'( im had my second attempt at a bow do that it worked fine on the tee but when i puled it it broke and gave me a welt across my face :-[ should have seen parents face when i walked in the house >:D
-
Well that sucks Eddie. So, i guess you didn't float to Hawaii to get that. Yellow guava must grow in FL? ;D. Good luck on another one.
-
Yea, Paul, It grows down here. The grove I got that wood from got killed this past winter. We had over two weeks of freezing weather. I've got to find a new spot now.
-
That stinks! That was a really cool bow.
-
I remember that bow hanging up at the classic she sure was a pretty thing.
