I went to pick up some knappable flint from the creek this morning. I wanted to find some to show at the TN shoot in a couple of weeks. As I was searching for this cool looking brown tan stuff that runs up a small side creek I found this arrowhead. It was at the base of where water was flowing over a group of rocks. Does anyone know what typ it could be. It is made from the same stuff as the pick flint I have been using

I'd call it an Adena.

I look the style up and I think you nailed it.

Yep, you can tell by the Base, and it's a nice one.

.....i have a LOT to learn.

I think it's an orphan point, and I'm looking to adopt.

Lol I would mail it to you but it is the first complete arrowhead I have ever found. I have been looking for three weeks. So for now this one can't be removed from my arrowhead colletion or I won't have an arrowhead collect hehe.

Good find. Not many points are found complete like that.

If you want to see something cool, soak it in some mineral oil for a few days. The patina will disappear and you can see what the material really looks like. It won't hurt the patina, just leave it out of the oil and it will look just like it did when you found it. This works great for translucent points.

I found one like that as a child while playing in some dirt my dad had hauled in. That was in Utah.
