Just what it says....what is your favorite point style and why?
Id have to go with a Hardaway Dalton. I like the neat curled ear look of the Hardaways, and love Daltons...so it's the best of both worlds. Hoping to put that on my next point to make list, unless I get the urge to try a Montell for Point of the Month. Never found one though.
A big Savannah River is a close second. Not sure why I like this relatively simple point, but I think the larger spear points are classic and classy looking. Another 'local' point...I have found some smaller ones, broke though :(. Next nice big spall of rhyolite I get....got a good bit of 3-4" spalls...I'm going to try for a big Savannah River. I'll need all the length and width I can get to keep it thin.

The Castroville point. It's one of the largest type point that I've found in the Texas hill country( my area). I can just imagine the early hunters hunting buffalo with them. Long & broad works of art. I call them Buffalo Killers.
The Montells are a close second. Long, sleek ,sharp, & pointy made for killing.

Had to look that one up Tower, but that is a nice classic looking point.

Cumberlands because i can.
All the duck river and Mississippian stuff because those items are large and unique.

Jesse do you sell each piece you make of the duck river stuff or you saving to piece the cache together?

Justin I'd like to make a cache but i'd like it to hve 2 swords, 2 eagle claws , 1 mace and one sun disk. And put it all in one big case. Thing is i would like it to be knapped from the same rock. When i find the rock i will make a cache.
As of right now all i have on hand is the last mace i made.

im a bit partial to all the Daltons
dont know why,they just fascinate me
plus i think they look like a palio style knife
i like knives
but i also like cahokia,desert side notch,hillsboro(sp),newnans and the like
not to mention anything that Jesse,Shannon,Patrick,Jamie make
their work is always killer,i must also now add Tower to that list

Now Tim I didn't ask who left the brown stain on your nose lol. I guess I'm just asking if you could find one pristine killer perfect point, what would you like it to be.

PINE TREES
I love the way they look and they come in so many variations, droopy barbs, expanding barbs, corner notched, stemmed, base notched, expanded notches, wide notches, very narrow notches, straight edged, boiled shrimp, deep fried shrimp ;D You get the picture.
I like the challenge they present me with. There's so many opportunities to screw one up. When I reach a point where most people would call it finished...I'm just getting started.
I never get tired of making them.

will if i could find an artifacti would love it to be a Dalton of any variety
as far as brown nose,no i dont think so
i just admire anything these fine knappers make
they are what inspire to be someday ;)
looking at their work inspires me to try new things and to reach for the next level

Tim I was just messing with you. You helped me a ton by showing me how to apply pressure to the biface when trying to pressure flake and all.
Shannon I would have never guessed you were a pine tree man.

I'm partial to paper thin, Hillsboroughs. Why? Because the high dollar ones are tansluscent, usually coral, extremely thin and very hard to find one with the small base still intact. Runner up is the Newnan, it's cousin.

My favorite point style are morrow mountains. Haven't tried to make one yet, but I find originals of all sizes from 1 in. to 3 or 4 in. long. My second favorite are eared yadkins because they are common locally. Nothing fancy just what I find examples of local.

I like the small, exquisite arrow points of the western US (Gunthers, Columbia Rivers, and Desert Side Notched). You know me....I just love those really intricate litte bird points that just look soooooooo cool when you finally lash them to an arrow. I've been making some Gunther points lately using all Abo tools (no copper, just antler flakers and hammerstones). I'll be posting some pics of them on here soon!!!

B.E.C.A.U.S.E. its a fairly simple design to make, requires no notches , has a highly effective hafting area, will work well in any size, from arrowhead to knife. ;D
p.s. sailor im flattered to even be considered in the same league as the knappers you mentioned. thank you
