got these today eastern was from the ground to the top of my head with his head and tail cut off , other is a 5 foot banded water snake. these will show up in the next couple days on the back of a bent stick.

Don't see many of those Eastern D backs any more. The banded water snake almost looks like a timber rattler(canebrake).
I tanned an Eastern D back that came off of Osawbaw Island GA. that stretched off the ends of a 8" sheet of plywood and was over 12" wide. It was hung over the fire place in the big house there. Mrs. West(island owner) commissioned it.

pat i was told its was a banded i didnt actually get these they were hanging on the mailbox when i got home htis morning. the easterns within a few miles of me are huge . i had four last year bout 200 yrds from my driveway that were over 6 foot with the head and tail still on . and i saw a 7 footer about a mile down the road , however he wasnt too keen on me using a tape measure on him ,so i guessed and he went back to his cedar tree for a nap

At least they didn't stuff 'em live into the mailbox for you. Good neighbors.

The only place I want to see them things is on the back of a bow! I'm glad I don't live in snake country, it would be hard for this northerner to enjoy the outdoors if I had to worry about them all the time.
-
thanks johnston
i can live with the snakes its the knats that bug the hell outta me
