Just wrapped up my first Mollegabet that I made from Hop hornbeam. Its 65" long and draws 57#@27". The levers are 13" and 1/2" wide tapering to pin nocks. The limb width is a 1 1/2" and the handle is 5". The Tips are ebony and stained maple. The bow is backed with texas rat snake. I used some of the scraps for the handle. I used alcohol based stains and about ten coats of tru-oil for the finish. The string is B-50 with black beaver balls. My bottom limb is slightly weak , but i hope a little more shooting straightens things out. I had some people say the bow looked pretty wicked...so I named the bow "wicked stick".

Man that looks great, I think I want to try one of those as well. They are a good looking design.
I have noticed that the Mollie's I have seen people build have the similar tiller as yours that concentrates the bend in the inner limb instead of all the way through to midlimb. I have not seen the original Mollegabet so I don't know what the original full draw looks like but I am interested to see if it develops compression cracks over time due to the limited area being used to store the energy.
Just some thoughts I had so please don't take my comments as crticism. I'm learning along with the rest of us. It is a beauty thats for sure and I bet its fun to shoot. Good job. Danny

Sidewinder, Mollegabets have a short working limb. On this bow probably about 22" minus the handle, fades and levers. I am also curious to see how it holds up. HHB is pretty tough so we will see??? My bottom limb is bending a little more then it should.
This morning I cut another nock groove on the bottom limb and it seemed to make the bottom limb a little more stiff. Hopefully I got the tiller corrected. I will post some more tiller pics later today. I was sick about the bottom limb coming out a little weak. I had the bow all shot in before the finish....and it somehow changed on me..... :(

Awesome bow! The rat snake is something I don't recall anyone using before. wicked stick for sure. How does it shoot?
-
Sweet-lookin bow. I gotta get me some HHB.
-
Nice looking bow.
I like to tiller the bottom limb stiffer as I have had the bottom limb weaken on me several times.......seems fairly common. I've never made a molle though.
Love the color.

"I have noticed that the Mollie's I have seen people build have the similar tiller as yours that concentrates the bend in the inner limb instead of all the way through to midlimb. "
its been my expirence that the working limbs need to be tillered to bend smoothly through the whole the limb either by reduced thickness or by narrowing limb profile which is the way i build them . i picture the limbs as short semipyramid limbs and ignore the levers.

nice work on the whole thing. really like the skin grip.

Looks beautiful!
