I was slightly reluctant to post as it just another Yew ELB and the full draw shot looks like it has a hinged upper limb...it's not, it's just that swooping grain and dip in the limb which you can see in the other shots.
She's 50# at 28" and shoots fast and sweet, I can enjoy her company for a few weeks before she goes to a new home :'(

Love it Del and love the swooping character dips, I don't think there is such a thing as "Just another (yew) ELB" Shear beauty. Congratulations on another incredible bow
-
Del,
I see horns on that bow are you coming over to the dark side? >:D
Looks good.

Yeah, I'm busted... gotta admit that having done 3 in fairly short order I'm getting quicker and slicker, still not my fave job.
The buffing wheels help too ;D.

(BTW, I don't bother posting bows on AIUK much these days as they don't have the common courtesy to reply.... umpteen views, 0 comments)

Nice one Del..Love that character and the horns, Job well done ;)

I love your bows Del, also like the pic with the cuppa, I think that may be your secret! Seriously don't stop making and posting, yours are great examples of a true classic.
-
Nice bow Del, good to see some self bows with character from the UK

Beutiful bow. Man, I found your website the other day while looking for information on yew longbows, and after a minute I was like, "hey, that guy posts on primitive archer". Very nice bow once again.
-
Cheers guys, I've got wood for 2 more ELBs this year, (one for myself) and then I'll be doing some flat bows, got some HHB and Hazel waiting for my attention ;D.

Beautiful bow Del. Tiller looks great to me. Danny
-
Oh my, that's an eye-catching bow.
-
Can't agree with "just another yew ELB" either. a beautiful example of the classic ELB. The character in the brace shot and full draw make it even better. keep em coming.
-
That looks great, sir. I love it. I've got a couple horns for tips like you have made, but so far i just can't be bothered....maybe one day
-
Lots of character in that one...........and the bow has quite a bit of character too ;D
Another nice elb from the cat :)

"just another ELB"?? "recluctant to post"???
Please don't hesitate to post your work.
Like the others have said....and I don't think it can be over stated....that's just beautiful.

Is that a hickory backing? Beautiful ! Classy looking lines and I really like the fact that the grip matches tips color

No no no no no... That's not Hickory, that's the pale sapwood doing it's intimate dance with the heart wood.
Ok maybe I'm getting a bit florid there but you know what I mean ::).
I had to work it down a bit as it was too thick and I'd have ended up with no heart wood at the tips if I'd left if full thickness.

I am not tiered of looking , just of drooling
Wish I had a bow like it!
Maybe you could just send to me ?
-
Never get bored of a nice ELB especially a nice one like that in yew. Lovely bow i will have to start nagging various people for more yew..
What kind of diameter trees are your recent few yew elbs coming from?
-
Thanx Del. I've got a piece of pacific yew I'm slowly whittling away on but your answer gave me ideas of how to do better!
-
Nothing wrong with another...
Nice bow!
-
That's a great tiller. Well done. Jawge
-
Del, you build nice bows, and I've been admiring them from this side of the pond for awhile now.
-
Very cool bow, Del. Yew is such beautiful bow wood. 8)
-
Thanks guys.
@ Dwardo The recent bows are from 2 logs cut last February about 5-6" diameter.
Heres a pic of one of 'em on the saw.

Thanks Del.
It looks like a bandsaw can save you a whole lot of wood. I must bug my neighbour next time i get some yew and saw it up as opposed to splitting it.
-
That's a beauty, Del! It looks perfectly tillered with respect to it's character and I like the shortened horn nocks. Great job!
-
Del, you sure make some purrrty bows, Bub
-
Great tiller on that bow, beautiful!
-
Del I never get tired of looking at your ELBs! Reminds me of classic cars that you always admire the looks and styling of. Must be my Brit ancestry talking. ;)
I'm looking to your bows for inspiration for a nice stave of pacific yew I have stashed away that can only be an ELB with nice horn nocks.
-
Now that is a good looking piece, nothing like a few sneaky snakes. Earl Gray with milk and sugar is okay also. Markus.
-
nice bow!
-
good job buddy.makes me want to try one of those elbs.send me one and i will try it out for you lol.thanks for the pics, steve
-
Very elegant. Beautiful bow, Del.
