Title: Hickory Sapling bow

Here's one i'm working on for the bow trade on TG

Hickory sapling i saved from the fire  :)

It's 70" right now, need to get 30"@55, right now it's pulling 50@18

Looks like i need to scrape more on the outer 1/3 This is by far the most challenging stave i have tillerd yet  :)

Have you tried the trick of the circle on the photo using paint? I think your left limb is quite a bit stiffer.

No i haven't tried that, i do have a woop tee doo on the left limb. Slow and easy...i haven't lost any of the natrual relfex yet,and i would like the left limb to be the lower one.

I think yo are doing well with the 'woop tee doo' on the left limb. I am looking further out on it. Keep going. It looks like you are doing well.

You have now inspired me to finish the hickory sapling bow I started that has a zig-zag in it. Thanks for sharing!

She is looking really fine. Looks like yo are getting mid limb on working. Looks like just a tad more. Jawge

Very cool.  You are doing a great job on a real challenging piece.  Keep up the good work, I love a sapling bow.

I also like sapling bows. They are very natural. Boards don't do it for me.

   Looks good so far to me. Hickory loves to suck up moisture. When I get to tillering I like to keep mine in the hot box. I use 15 watt bulbs and leave the lid cracked. Just enough to keep the moisture away and not make your bow to brittle(dry). This will really help string follow in hickory.

Thanks guys, crooketarrow, i bring it inside when not working on it, it stays by the heat vent, still got the heat on up here !
