not quite primitive but here goe's this is a 3 pc takedown I built 66" tip to tip, came in @ 50# @ 29",the walnut for the riser I slabed out last year and the limb lams were the belly cut's from some pyramid bow's, 2 maple and 1 white oak, only thing modern is the 4 tee nuts, ss bolts and brass washers, hope ya like it, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/100_2793.jpg)

love that riser
i have a 3 piece takedown kit the wife got me for x-mas
bit dont like the hickory block it came with for the riser
you wouldnt by chance have another block of that cut out that you would want to get rid of
would ya ? ;D
-
Very cool! Do you assemble and tiller the limbs as normal?
-
sailordad, when I get a chance I'm gonna be takeing some more off that log, ya want some?
Jeff, yeah I just sanded out the saw marks and glued it up on a form with tb2, their was very little tillering
-
Bubby, i sure wold like a hunk of that
it would go great with the boo/ipe limbs
let me know what ya need for it when you get it cut off the log
thanks

-
nice bow , way over my skill level . inspiring though !
-
thank's everyone, ken, i've seen enough of you're bows to know it's not over you'er skill level at all, Bub
-
Real nice job there Bubba. How about some measurements and thickness of the limbs. Overall of the handle and what degree of angle for the limb attachment.I am about to build one for a friend, Denny
-
hi Denny, the limb's are 1"1/2" at the widest, 28" to the nock and the riser is 9"3/4"between the limbs and 16" overall, as far as the angle it all just depends on if ya want a flat bow, or how much deflex ya want in it, I also glue some leather pads on the riser where the limbs attach, sort of a pad -noise dampener, this bow draws so smooth ya would think it was 40# draw weight, good luck with you're bow, Bub
-
Bubba How thick where the lams and I noticed you didn't use a wedge. Good idea with the leather pad.Did you use benzel bolt kit or just allen bolts and grommets' Couldn't see in the photo. Thanks Denny
-
Neat bow, riser looks great.
-
Nice job. Man I love it down there in northern Cali. Love to see your pictures.

Denny I used tee nuts installed between the walnut and hickory, I've used allen bolts before but on this one I used stanless steel philips head bolts with brass flat washers and brass dress washers, the brass really pops against the walnut, Bub
-
Good looking bow! Riser is really sweet.
Have you had any trouble with the limbs splitting Where the limb bolts holes are drilled?
-
timo, not so far, this is the third bow like this I have built and so far so good, the other's have had 800 to 1,000 arrows through them and still shoot great, however I was thinking about some bushing's in the holes, but not sure if it will make a differance, Bub
-
ttt
-
That's pretty cool I'm going to have to try that
-
I feel the need to revive this to ask a question.
With regards to the tee nuts, are they installed on the belly side within the riser block, or is there some sort of tee nut that has thread on inside and outside, allowing them to be installed from the back side?
-
Aussie if you look at the riser, it is three pcs, the tee nuts are installed in the front or back side of the riser and is completely incased , hope that helps, bub
-
Awesome bow, inspires me to take on a project I've been dreaming up for awhile.
-
That's exactly what I was after Bubby.
What size tee nuts?
-
i'm not sure, 5/16" I think, I used grade 8 bolts
-
Nice job on that TD, I really like the profile and full brace pic.
Are the limbs the same thickness from end to end.?
P.S. Did you ever finish that 2 peice you were building..?
-
Bubby I have looked at this a few time and I must say, I love it. Great work. It looks so well built and a smoooooth drawer to boot. An inspiration to say the least.

That bow is awesome! Really like it! Love the contrast with the light and dark woods. The brass does really pop. Nice job!
