This is another little NA style bow thats on the way to Maine. Black walnut, no backing 49" ttt with pin knocks, 43# @ 27". shoots really smooth. The bow has very slightly recurved limb tips (steam bent) gonna leave it up to Warren to decorate as he sees fit. The finish is the usuall spruce pitch and grease.
just something a little different

Very nice bow!!! I've always liked Native American style bows!
-
Love it Rich ! I just love working Black Walnut, it's a great wood to work with.
-
Thanks, Frode, HickoryBill, and JohnK....I agree about the black walnut, have made self bows up to 65# with it, it's outstanding as a bow wood, far as I'm concerned.
-
Plus it just looks so dang nice !
-
That is one nice little bow! Aside from an occasional Molly, short bows are what gets me going to make bows. Love it...
-
No picture in the snow! You getting soft?
I like it. Got one similiar going , paddle bow of elm I got from some guy in Michigan.

Cool little bow, Rich. Getting 27" out of a 49" bow is a pretty good feat. Well done!
-
Thanks Pat, n2huntin....snow aint no problem but the old bones aint diggin the temps lately.....hell man we warmed up to -5 today, so maybe yer right, eh?

Don't worry rich, a heat wave is coming :D
-
JB,....Neither one, sir. I make all of my bows from fully quartersawn wood that I cut for myself....well my friend owns the mill saw.
John K, damned I hope so, It's been so cold here that I removed the upper pully cover on the band saw because I have to manually start it turning....that's pretty cold for this old man ;D

excellent bow Rich . always like seeing ya get full draw out of a shorty, jeff beat me to the gettin soft comment
-
Nice one. lots of draw length for the bow length. Looks like a nice home invasion stopper.........practicing in the living room :o ;) ;D
Darcy :)
-
Rich great work as always.
I agree bout the black walnut. I'm still shootin the snot out of the one you sent me. As mentioned above that's a dang good pull for a shorty.
How does the Mrs. feel bout pullin that shorty in the house ;D ;D? Mine gets a little nervous...but that might be because I put a telephone pole in the wall of my den ;D ::) ;D

That's awesome Rich! I've been tryin to get that kind of draw out of a shorty for some time. Lots of snap, crackle, and pop is all I get, and I'm not talking about the cereal. :(. Would you be willing to share the dimensions. I've been wanting to make myself a bow thats short enough to shoot out of my kayak for a float hunt. Once I figure out the bow, then I can focus on replacing that plastic boat with a birch bark canoe ;D.

Tatto,
I'll check all my photos and see if I can get those dimensions for you.....the bow is on the way to Maine so I cant throw the calipers on her. If I cant I'll make up a drawing, sir.

-
Outstanding!
-

Jason

-
Very cool little bow there!
-
nice bow! kinda looks like a paddle bow.
-
Thanks for the very nice comments fellas !!!
I didn't get the measurements of the finished bow, but I did call Warren (in Maine) this morning and he should be getting the bows on Monday. I'll get the necessary measurements and post them Monday afternoon, or as soon as possible.
wvarcher, That's what it is, along the lines of a southern Inuit....without the cable backing....and added the slightly recurved tips.
Tatoo Dave, roughed you out a short NA bow, draws 50# @ 10" right now, close grained red elm......PM me yer address and I'll get it out to you. It's about 49 ntn. will post a pic if ya like.
Sparrow, my bows are fully quatersawn "boards" that we cut ourselves....dont know if a stave would do the same. Just wanted ya to know.
Thanks again fellas

Very nice Rich. You sure have a way with that wood ;D
-
That is on nice looking bow, like that walnut.
-
Rich, beautiful work, and I really like the wall treatment.
Dane
-
Nice bow! - but shouldn't a paddle-bow have a more elliptical tiller? The narrow middle should bend less than the wider middle limbs - if one want's to distribute the stress evenly along the bow.
-
Copy that ! Thanks ' Frank
-
Pm sent Rich. What else can I say, You are awesome!!! ;D
