this is my first attempt at a basket. its made from pine straw out of my yard. you can see how my pattern started off random. but as i got to the edges i started to pick it up. Looks good to me! I would be happy with that on my 10th try! ;D

Looks really cool, I wouldn't believe it was your first if you hadn't said it.

Cool pinestraw coil basket. What did you use to wrap the pinestraw? My wife made a few of those years ago when we lived in Coastal SC. She used stripped palmetto fronds with long needle yellow pine needles.
Now, make yourself a quiver! ;)

I was wondering what the heck "pine straw was" then I thought about it and got my suspicion confirmed by the video that its long pine needles. cool basket and way more basic then I thought. thanks for showing me, I will have to collect some next time I run accross a ponderosa or black pine tree. good job.

Piine strahw is a Southern thang! Most other people call them pine needles. ;D
-
very nice work , as mentioned that would make a unique quiver.
-
The baskets are really neat, well done!
Now I know what I can do with all the "pine straw" in my yard!
Only problem is I will have to wait for the snow to melt :(

Those are really cool. Now you got me wanting to try it. For anybody that needs pine straw you can get it at any Apiaries Supply store. They use it in the smokers when calming the bees to retrieve the honey. Here, they sell a big block for $3.00.
