OK, so it's a go.

From looking at the previous swaps, here's the basic premise:

1. Post in this thread with how many points you want to trade by midnight on January 15, 2011. I'll post a compiled list periodically.
2. On Jan. 16th, I'll print each name once for the number of points they signed up for and put the papers in a hat. I'll then have my kids pull the names and make a list in the order the names are pulled (except I won't have you send a point to yourself).
3. I'll post the ordered list on Jan 16th. You will send a point to the name(s) below your name in the list. It is your responsibility to contact your recipient for their address.
4. Mail your point(s) to your recipient(s) by February 1, 2011.

Here's the list I have so far:

Sailordad - 3
Rileyconcrete - 1
Jamie - 1
Jonathan Creason - 1
jthompson1995 - 2
nugget - 2
Sparrow - 2
Bryan Irwin - 2

Please let me know if you have any questions or Igot something wrong in the information above. Thanks.

come on folks we need more participants in this  ;)
it doesnt matter what you think your knapping skill level is
it doesnt matter ifn your a newbie or a master or somewher in between
all that matters is that you can break a rock and make a point/blade(your interpetation of what one looks like  ;) )
the purpose isnt to see who can make the best
the purpose is to make one of yours for someone elses collection and get one for your own collection  8)
so come on folks, break a rock, make a point and get one in return in the PTH
everyones a winner this way
i aint never got one in the trade that i didnt like or put in my case
its all good  ;D

:) I wear glasses too, but they aren't safety glasses and it was one of those flakes where it bounced right under/past them. It feels a lot better today and I'm even almost used to putting this goop into my eye now, so I think I'm clear. The Dr. asked me what I was doing and I had to explain what I meant by knapping, then he just looked at me like I was crazy.

I got my "point" from rileyconcrete Friday and all i can say is WOW. It's actually a tomohawk with a dacite blade and very nice leather wrapped wood handle. Overall it's about 12" long, not including the horsehair tail. I really liked the packing for it as well, 13 spalls of midnight lace obsidian.

Tell went above and beyond on this one. Thanks you VERY much Tell, I don't feel worthy.

OK, I am still alive and kicking.  I do have to say that I hate dial up.  I am glad that I remembered to photobucket mobile.  It is much faster.  Here is the pick of the point from knap123.

Here are the points I got from Woodbow 1

They all look sweet and have made it into my collection case.  Thanks

Due to a bad case of camera in the creek syndrome, I told Lobo69ss I would post pics of what I sent him.  My hand wasn't up for knapping just yet so I had to send some I had knocked out earlier.  If you get a chance to run a finger thru a tablesaw, skip it.

Here is a dacite turkeytail.

Here is a point from a piece of glass tile.

Here is a poor attempt at a clovis from a piece of unheated nocaculite on the right.

You might call it a poor attempt at the Clovis, but I`m verry happy with all 3 of those sweet points.
I had to make up a new frame to display goodies I`ve gotten lately from friends on here & other forums
P.I.T.H`s... My wife says I need to get it up on the wall instead of on the phone stand where she`s
scared that she might knock it off... Ko Hon, I`ll get right roundtuit soon`s I `member where I put my Tuit...
Thanks for posting those for me, I appreciate it.

Fossilized, agateized coral.  Thank you very much !   It was so nice,I put away the two I made for the swap and am making new ones out of my prettiest rock.  (It is the way) Hopefully these pictures download.  '  Frank

And she rightly should....I mean, it would get annoying letting your husband borrow your camera when she only has half a dozen  ::)

Sailordad

I recieved your points and think they are great,  I haven't posted pics because between a home remodel and chasing my 11 month old son around we managed to lose the cord for our camera.  I promise once I do find it I will post a pic of all 4 of the points I recieved this p.i.t.h.  I really enjoy this type of trade and have yet to be dissapointed in what I have received.

i'll bet if you ask your 11 month old,he probably knows where that cord is  ;D

i atually miss them years.

You've got nothing to feel bad about, Ken, those are some fine hunting points.  I'm just trying to figure out when you managed to make them between the 20-some bows you get done a week.  :)

That turkey tail is cool, I've always liked that design.

What exactly were turkey tails for?
Title: Re: point in the hat
Post by: sailordad on February 26, 2011, 06:35:50 pm
david, turkey tails or oblique knives are believed to have been knives
worn witha leather strap/thong oround the notched end
but on the othern hand some say that the larger ones were worn as a pendant or status symbol
atleast thats what ive been told
