Here is a spear that I made last week to take with me on the hunt to kill pigs with Mecslasher and Mullet. I hope to have the opportunity to stick a pig or at least throw the spear at a pig. Guess we'll have to wait and see. :D
The blade is made of jade green rhyolite and the European Souletrean Leaf style. The blade measures 9.25" long x 3" wide x -.25 at its midriff tapering towards the bypoints. It has a 67" long hickory shaft, 1" diameter tapering towards the end, asphaltum, sinew and hide glue binding with deer rawhide over that at the blade/shaft junction. Overall length is 76.25 " long. Wish me luck >:D >:D >:D james

That'll do the job. I had a chance to stick one two years ago there and left the spear in the golf cart :(. I'm working on two atlatl darts for Tim right now. It's going to be cold, piggies ought to be on the move, they are down here.

DUDE THATS AWESOME :o :o

Dang dude, that is awesome! :o :o In fact I see the Lithic Gods, are looking at it also, just look at the first picture Just above the blade, you can see the eye in the snow......well at least I can. Sometimes I see things .....well, never mind..... ::) That is an awesome blade, and it sure ought to do some damage to a pig ! ;) :o

Now go make some bacon! Eddie, is it against the rules to bring more than 2 Parkers at once down there to Lexicarrie?(sp)

I am scared for the hogs that thing looks lethal!!! I might have to make it down there some day..I would love to get a hog with any primitive weapon.

james ive been reading like crazy trying to put myself back in time for a fluting project we're working on. and yes i read and think too much. was looking at this point again. its classic souletrean. got t me to wondering how archeologists can say a clovis point came from this style of knapping. some clovis use overshot flaking but most have a ridge that is non-existent in the souletrean. sorry for the rambling but once my brain gets locked on a project , it stays there and the brain wont shut off. need coffee
-
Jamie,.......here smoke this...... ::) ;D ;D

Would be worth a mint to see a video of that and the hunter in buckskin and a buffalo robe coat .would be a soory individual who wouldnt want a copy of a hunt like that better yet kill a buffalo with it from horseback!
-
sweet! this is going to be one hell of a hunt. looking forward to doing some hog hunting with james. of the parkers that i hunted with down there, one hits hogs in the a$$ or the head, the other, well he managed to hit some dirt. ::)
-
That looks awesome cuz, hope you get to put it to a pig. Wish I could make this one, but there's probably for sure some law against having three Parkers hunting in the same place at the same time. ;D Kill one for me, sure wish I could go this time, I'm about out of dirt chops. ;D
-
Steve?, I think we just got Dissed? ??? ::) :-\
-
Oh, I'm used to constant abuse and mental trauma from that boy. Always hatin' on somebody. ;D
-
I'll see if I can get you some more dirt chops, I might have to shoot them in the booty, though. :D
-
it takes some skill to hit a hog in the head. especially, when you are chasing one in shorts and flip-flops, while holding a cell phone in one hand and a .44 mag in the other. ::) :o
-
Nah, truth be know, that hog laughed itself to deat! ;D ;D

Chris, still trying to clear the coffe out of the nose from that mental picture. :D :D
-
I think that spear will do the job. Looks like a KILLA.
-
well, guys i never did get the right opportunity to stick a hog with the spear,,but i did have one heckava time,,i gave the spear to the guy that owned the plantation, because he was so good to us and he was such a great person,, he really liked it a lot..............maybe next time................. :D,,,,james

That is great James!! hate you didn't get to stab one with that, it would make one more nasty slice in whatever it hits!!!! Love that blade.
