Long time lurker, first time poster....Its not my first bow though;-).
Mostly sapwood and not the best quality yew, but I use what I can get. As the topic says its drawing about 60# (this will settle at alittle less with time) at 28". There is alot of minor transverse cracks in the knots on the back which might prove fatefull, but it shoots excellent now. The nocks are from a piece of turkish walnut my father had left after a costum rifle stock job...sounds fancy...but its not really, the pieces are too small for that.
Its heat treated, but still took 1 inch of set...I blame the natural deflex which I straightened with dryheat. I cant really judge the tiller (I go tiller blind for weeks after I finish my projects)...but I dont think its off by much.
Anyway, here it is:

And at draw (sorry about the underwear;-):

Thats about as much information as two pictures can carry;-)

Nice job. I really like it.

What a wonderful Yew Bow! Man them knots must've been a nightmare to tiller around. Great job! Got it bookmarked for November Self BOM contest too! :)

To me this is an outstanding bow. I don't care much for overlays, however - being that it is a soft yew wood bow, AND that they came from something your daddy gave you - I respect them. I LOVE that tiller and all those knots. To me the tiller is absolutely perfect. I think you have a class weapon. Great job man. Have you shot it at all? I bet it'll throw 'em out there pretty good.

Nice one, Yew is pretty forgiving, so hopefully the knots will hold up.

Excellent job on a challenging piece of wood Holten. Your tiller looks great and with that length I think you will be just fine. Yew is very forgiving that way. I love character bows and you did very well on your limb width for that bow.Congratulations
