Good shooting Sterling and congrats on your first deer.
Looks like a very nice rifle. Ruger #1 is #1 in my book! ;)

Thanx pat and Thanx for moving the post it didn't even cross my mind where I posted it earlier

Good going and I know what you mean about feeding the yunguns. I fed mine by running em over with a pickup "unintentional" a few times. when you're hungry meat is meat.

Good looking deer, Sterling. I've got the same gun in .300 WinMag.

cool that's a good caliber I went with 7mm because it's a flat shooting caliber I do miss my SVD when I traded it it was sited up to 1300 meters since the scope had 4 graduated karets the high one was 100m and the bottom was 1300m I learned how to do it rite from a translated Russian manual I found that they issued with it

I have a couple of friends that were snipers in the Marine Corps and the Phoenix Program in Vietnam that said the Dragonov couldn't come close to hanging with the Winchester Model 70 or the Remington 700 BDL. I think you will like the Ruger#1 better. I haven't had to blood trail anything with mine. ;D

There was no trailing the one he never knew what hit him I did a heart and lung shot with a nosler partition bullet he dropped instantly ;D

Nice deer and nice rifle.
Nothing wrong, in my opinion, with using a firearm, so long as it's done in a responsible way. It's the hunter who is responsible, ethical, moral, aware, etc. Not his or her equipment. We tend to prefer bows, but I for one do not condem a guy just for his equipment use. I do the vast majority of my hunting with a bow, but - like you said - sometimes it's good to get meat in the freezer quickly. I may take a rilfe out later this year to fill a last tag. No shame in that.
