HI all
I have just got hold of a nice Ash/Iroko/Red oak stave, i wish to make a primitive bow. Whats the best shape/length to go for i dont want to end up with a long bow or flat bow as i want to enter primitive class in NFAS shoots (im in England).
Any help/advise welcome.
Im a complete novice so go easy
Cheers

Mearheath would probly be the easiest. Holmguard is a little more technical but I would think that both would be considered primative. Simple 'D' bow would also work.

What kind of a stave is that? You mean those 3 woods are laminated? Jawge

yeah laminated that would exclude me from primitive now i come to think of it.

Since it's laminated I'd just go ahead and make a ELB or flat bow and get some experiance under your belt and then make a primitive when you get a stave.

I think you can have laminated in the primitive class you need to check the rules on the NFAS site.
There is a group of us primitive bowmakers down in the south east of England, where abouts are you?
Peter.
