I just got back from Mechlashers and boy was it a fun weekend. I left Florida about 11 o'clock Thursday night and got there about daylite Friday morning. It was in the low eighties when I left with flip-flops on(naturealy), and frost on the ground when I got there.
I sat around most of the day sipping, scouting and setting a stand up waiting for Wade, (n2everything) to show up and Chris to get out of teaching school. Well, both were no shows. I got bored after chipping three points and went out and got in my stand early. I figured I go up about 35' and read a book and eat beef jerky to hunting time.
About six thirty I saw a deer walk out about 250 yards from what Chris and I figured out later. I dropped that one and about rolled the tree stand over doing it. I had to switch to an ackward position and the recoil rolled me sidways since I was on my knees in a climber. It turned out to be one of the bucks Chris wanted culled. Then went out Saturday afternoon and got another at about hundred twenty yards, another buck. Both of them 3 points.
I only brought that red cooler in the picture so when I got both of them cleaned, and packed in there and didn't see any reason to hunt Sunday or Monday like I had planned. I had a great, relaxing time with Chris, filled the cooler, we shot muzzle loaders for two days and got to shoot Chris' tricked out Springfield 45. He hit dead center in the ten ring, first shot, I didn't even want to pull out my Sig after that. Thanks Chris.

sounds like you had a greta time Eddie
and great shooting, and i mean that. 250 yds aint an easy shot
gotts ask, wheres the pics on this tricked out springfiled ;)
-
Tim, chris will have to show a picture of his pistol and the points. I didn't get a picture of them.
That shot was the longest I've ever made, I hardly shoot more than 50 yards in Florida with a gun.
-
Eddie, forgot to ention
i like thoe old school camo jacket too
looks like the original tree bark pattern
-
It is, I traded Twistedlimb for my Fred Bear style overall Camo's.
-
WTG Eddie, congrats...I didn't know you could see that far, much less hit what you are shooting at :D..glad you had good weekend

Thanks, Charlie. :) I told you about that tall pine tree. I liked to crapped when that stand rolled a little with recoil of that 300WM. My eyesite is good but I couldn't see Chris' little white hankey at 300 yards right at dark when his Flintlock missfired on a 6 point at 35 yds. He was hoping I could see it that far and get a shot. I was looking at mine instead. The six point will be there for Hillbilly.

Damn, I gotta get out and do some of that! Tender vittles ya got there Eddie..
-
Yes sir, Paul, you haven't been smelling the roses. When you coming to Miami?
-
Some kind of fun weekend! almost did not recognize you--pants and no flip flops! ;D You should trade Chris out of one of those special bladed knifes he makes! Best I ever had. Was kind of expecting to see Cade in a elephant hide kilt! A/ho Pokie

Good shooting Eddie thatll put some meat in the freezer for sure. Ron
-
I know the weather was perfect for hunting for y'all, Eddie. I wish I could have been there. Wade didn't make it?
Nice shooting. I'm like you, 50 yards is about I ever shoot. I set up the same stand situations for bow or gun hunting.
-
Way to go Eddie...great Steaks there...oh and I see the Wife let you take Her Jeep.......... ;D....Mine is letting me use Her Lariat too.... O:)
-
Not sure I'm going to make Miami. Galveston is on the list for me instead :(. Oh well, one coast is as good as another I reckon ;).

eddie was my cull man this weekend. there are a couple more i'd like to see taken out so this big boy will service most of the does. glad you made it back to florida in one piece. hopefully next time the "big one" will come out into the pines. the second buck is the one my flinter misfired on sat. afternoon. kinda of glad i didn't get him since eddie nailed the second buck. he'll be there for the next hunt.
tim, i'll get some pics of my 45 when i get my new set of cocolobola grip put on it. here's a pic of the first time i shot my new pistol at around 12 yards. should have stopped with the first shot when it took out the X.

Cool, Eddie! Glad to see that somebody can hit those deer of Chris's ! ;D

Thanks Steve, kinda planning on running back up Thanksgiving week. I can probably get off about 4 or 5 days.
-
steve does that buck look familar? it was coming from where you shot at your buck at roughly the same time.
-
The one I shot at had a couple more jabbers on its head than the six-point and was maybe a little wider. Seemed to have decent browtines from what I can remember. Not near as big as ol' hoss, there, though. I think it was that black-faced eight-pointer we were looking at on the cam pics. That's a nice heavy six-pointer there. At least me and you are givin' em a good education with those flintlocks. ;D
