Title: slippery elm bow
Post by: SA on September 19, 2010, 02:07:25 pm
hey all,  this one is 62" ntn 44# @ 27" draw with  diamond nocks . i have some cherokee blood so i thought that would be kinda cool ,  i really like the way they hold the string though.I took it to work to show a friend and left it in hot a car all day(not smart) then when i got home i strung it up to soot and heard a slight crack, so i patched a small area( could hardley see it) . she shoots pretty fast and have put about 150 arrows through it  so it should hold up ok. thanks for looking.
shawn acker,

At the widest, how wide is this bow? I'm thinking of making a slippery elm bow similar to it, and making it about 1.5 for most of the length.

Thanks,
CP

I just made an elm bow, wasnt sure what type of elm though. After working the stave a bit I picked up my grandaughter and she complained about the smell on my hands...guess I know what type it is now.

Nice bow too.

looks nice. slippery elm also has the very tall bark. the natives use the cambium layer for teas.
