I finished this bow a couple of weeks ago, but haven't been able to post it because I have been helping my wife with some medical problems and couldn't get to a computer. It is my first attempt using HHB. This is from the log that an old boss of mine gave me. The bow is 65" long, 1 5/8" wide out to mid limb tapering to 1/2" pin nocks. It is 55# @ 26". The stave that this bow came from was amazing. This bow has never been touched by heat or steam. Everthing lined up perfect. It has a decent sized knot in the upper limb with a cavity in it. I was really impressed with the HHB. It worked a little different than osage. It almost seemed like it was harder wood. The scrapers that I use on osage didn't work too well on it. I used some leftover minwax stain and mixed in some red dye to darken it up. I used spar urathane satin spray finish on it. It is still a little to glossy, I need to dull it up a little. I tillered the lower limb a little stiffer than the upper one. It is close to center shot. This is my first floppy rest, it seems to work well. The bow shoots great. I have been shooting it almost every day. My daughter has been shooting with me. I plan on using this bow for our deer season which opens in 20 days. Thanks to everyone that gave me advice along the way.

Very nice bow!

hhb is an awesome wood
im always amazed at how little of it you need to make a sweet bow
and how light in the hand it is for such a dense wood
oh and nice bow by the way
one of my fav style of grips too
my hick hunting bow for the year is pretty near identical to that bow too ;)

Yeah that is a really nice looking bow. Well done.
55#@ 26 sounds like a hunting bow to me. :)

Nicely done!good job.Really like that grip!

that thing turned out simple & classy! i like the way you've made the tiller look low stress on the limbs- makes me think it'll send a heavy hunting arrow downrange efficiently.

Me too. The last two bows that I've made I used those nocks. They are easy to make and look cool.
