>:D >:D >:DAh, I see you did not heed my warning! Very well.....read on at your own peril! >:D >:D >:D
(Okay so sometimes the old professional wrestler in me comes to the surface... ;D)
Anyway this bow is actually part one of an experiment in working toward my dream bow and like any mad scientist worth their salt, I only asked myself if I "could" as opposed to whether or not I "should."
In this experiment I attempted to see if the bow would still be functional while the...erm... "accessories" stayed in place. I am proud to say that this experiment is a success ! I have fired nearly 300 arrows with no evident impact on the bow's performance. 64"// 45#@28".
My wife won't let me keep the bow in the house as it apparently follows her and tries to steal her soul. Strangely, the temperature of the surrounding area seems to drop several degrees when in the bow's presence and I suspect the bow is bent on world domination...EVIL MONSTER BOW!!!!
I have thus dubbed this bow "Pinky and the Brain."
as in...
Pinky: "What do you want to do tonight Brain?"
Brain: "Same thing we do every night Pinky...TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!"
Oh, this bow not for bom...far too silly.

Oh Man that's soooo wrong on sooo many levels...
But it works! ;D
Kitsch but done sooo well you carry it off. You better watch out tho' there's probably a whole tribe of snake worshippers on their way from the Amazon even as we speak.
Mind it'll take 'em one heck of a time to paddle that far, so maybe you'll be ok ... for a while >:D.
Just remember to look over your shoulder now and again.
Great fun great bow... I didn't look really...I had my eyes sorta half closed...

@ Del: ROFL!!!

Thas a good looking bow, liable to be a conversation starter at shoots. Steve
-
I think your using that top snakes fang as a sight pin. That's cheating!
Very cool looking bow. I like the leather on the fades.
-
Sick...Sick...Sick...
Did I mention...I love SICK!
Keep it up
Thanks for the ideas

:o ;D ;D LOL That's awesome. Is that a gator hide handle wrap? I'll have to try that.
-
Very very COOL. No way this one should be kept out of BOM .I hate to think what would happen if your hand slipped..OUCH >:D
-
that is the coolest looking bow ever posted on here. awesome!! and im with hillbilly, this should be in b.o.m.
-
Now that just plain cool

While I won't call it the coolest bow ever, I'll certainly put it in the top three. It gets the weirdest (and scariest) awards too. That's one to mount above the fireplace. >:D
-
Hey, remind me not to say "bite me" if we ever go shooting together. wow......never seen anything quite like that.

I think you should let me put it in the BOM contest. I like it alot. :)
-
different kind of handshock on that one....
i'm with Josh & the others- should go into BOM
-
Ha! That is great! I love seeing something "off the wall" like that! Hey, at least your not wasting any parts of the animal!
Aside from that, I always thought the heads were still venemous, what do you do, remove the venom sacs? Just curious how you prepare something like that...
-
BOM for sure!!!That bow is bad to da bone!!!!
-
Wow! Guys thanks so much for the enthusiastic responses! I wasn't really sure how the bow would be received as it is so "off the wall."
@JO5H: It's gator pattern stamped latigo.
@Parnell: Actually, if I have been informed correctly, the venom in the head/fangs is still potent for almost 20 years post-mortem, so I don't recommend anyone "try" this without the proper training/knowledge/experience. It should be noted that I don't have the proper training either. The heads were a.. shall we say...consolation surprise from an outfitter when I "almost" pig hunted on his ranch in West Texas. The outfitter tans and preserves the snakes he has to take on his property.
As far as BOM goes. Thank you so much guys (it means a lot to me), but underneath all of the adornment the bow itself is just an unfinished hickory board stave I found for a couple bucks on ebay. The only real original construction work I did on the bow was re-do the tiller (in this case to shift the bow from a D-shaped tiller to one where I removed as much bend as possible from the handle/riser so the glued on snake heads didn't pop off at full draw) and of course all of the finish work.
Although I am open to submitting to BOM, as I didn't make the bow itself from scratch (either a log split stave or new board), I don't feel it qualifies for BOM. Please comment on this as I am curious as to what you all think.

that, is cool. 8)
-
Cool bow. Not my cup of tea but cool none the less! 8)
-
I don't care much for using snake heads as decoration, but the tiller and handle look really good.
-
I'm putting it in as a write in candidate. I love a freak carry on.Ron
-
That bow certainly encourages consistent hand placement on the bow! ;D
-
Im with your wife on it not taking up residency in the house, I dont think I could sleep a wink! :o
However, what a cool bow.
Definately one of a kind.
Great job on it! ;D
-
Wow! now thats original :o
-
I love it! That is some pretty real looking artificial gator skin, too. I think I'd wear gloves if I was shooting it, though.
-
How many of the people on here have taken a roughed out, floor tillered stave or board and made a bow from it? Or , the one that was given to some one to help them along the way? I don't think buying a board roughed out to a bow, that you had to retiller and make a shootable, VERY good looking, monstrous, evil >:D bow should eliminate it from BOM.
Josh... Don't listen to him. List it in the BOM contest. Anyone that makes something like that has lost there mind and is demented anyway >:D ;D
-
Pretty neat. Aren't you a bit worried that your hand might slip sometime?
-
Since you put your tiller on the bow it should be in the BOM contest. Doesn't matter if you started with a tree, a sawn board or a bow blank you have every right to be in the contest because you tillered the bow and that is the heart and soul of wooden bow making. Got your very strange entry bookmarked for July Self BOM fun! :)
-
That's wild! I'd be too creeped out to pick it up, let alone shoot it!
-
Please tell me you have taken that to nearby "archery shops" to scare the hell out of the wheelie crowd. With that bow, you look like a villain in a Jack Black kid's movie.
Yes, that IS a compliment ;)
-
I can see that bow in some B grade sadistic devil worship horror flick. Of course I'd watch it just to see that bow kill the good guys ;)...
-
I've taken it to the Bass Outdoor World archery range where the full draw photo was taken. Most of the archers reacted the same way as on here. Excited, and think that its really unique and generally neat-o; however, its about a 50-50 split with those who want to hold it versus those who won't get too close. One friend of mine was so freaked out he actually backed away and I ended up chasing him across the upper floor of the store, down the stairs and into the casino. Security finally put the kabosh on my fun, but it was worth it ;D.

You just gotta take that bad boy out on Haloween and bag some Zombies>

I think better name is " Voldemorts Bow" :)

I think you should let me put it in the BOM contest. I like it alot. :)

made my day when i seen that bow,if a man cant put some out of the box fun into his bowyery hes missing out. i havent gone quite that far but i never thought of it either.as stated take that bow and show it to every machine shooter you can find and let them see what archery fun is all about.
