here is my first try at an ottawa bow.its 52" nock to nock made from an ash board that wasnt very good as far as violated grain so I cut a thin slice off of it and glued it back on to make a backing.its 1"3/8" wide at the handle tapering out to just over a 1/2" at the tips.I coloured the bow using "scuff coat" shoe polish the kind of stuff that has a sponge end on the bottle that is used as an applicator, over that i used a little danish oil.many thanks to rich (half eye) for his advice.it pulls 40#@26".thanks for looking.(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/jackscommunion040.jpg)(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/jackscommunion037.jpg)(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/jackscommunion038.jpg)(http://i673.photobucket.com/albums/vv98/mox1968/jackscommunion039.jpg)

beautiful bow , i can see you did your homework
-
I want to make one so bad. Trying to whittle down a hickory stave to be quartersawn now. I need to give Rich a ring to find out the little tips.
he is an awesome bowyer.
You did an impressive job. How long is your draw?
-
I have a 26" draw big country ,need to get some shorter arrows as you can see from the pics.
-
I wouldn't be in a big hurry to get smaller arrows. Longer shafts are supposed to give you less Archer's Paradox. I just paint a colored band on minefor shorter draws.
-
Great looking bow! I really want to try an ottawa some day. I would sure hope it's half as nice as yours.
-
Hey Mate, SEE i told you to hang in there. Such a good job! Keep cranking them out.Denny O:)

Verrrrrry nice. That last pic in the original post is great, shows it off well.
