Title: Heres a rare head of coral I cut into, check out the polyps
Post by: jcinpc on May 27, 2010, 12:53:32 pm
I have never found a head with the polyps so pronounced like these. Got some color into it also, not cooked at all. I wish I had more of this. :o

Very nice looking stuff good luck with it all and remember all us poor folk that has to use shale and mayonaise jars for knapping!  LOL...

That's probally why the natives kept moving, Russ. They probally didn't have enough mayonaise jars. ;D

Roger, this is from the 2000 lbs of rock Rick and I hauled away from Claudes into the creek. I just happen to see it when I was throwing a bucket load out. Might be more like it in the creek we threw out. This was just a small head about the size of my hand and all I got was these 4 slabs.

Do you slab that stuff, to save on material, or was that just to highlight the features of the coral? Looks like awesome stuff.

I slabbed it to get the most out of that small head , but yes I always like to cut with the tubes or polyps on the face.
