Title: My Airgun "Quiver" .......very long thread & lots of pictures....& Videos
Post by: NOMADIC PIRATE on May 08, 2010, 08:31:10 pm
In the surfing word we refer as quiver to our collection of surfboards,
than you have the original, .....the archery quiver,
so to stay on theme i'll refer to my airguns collection as Quiver

I had lots of PMs of folks interested in pellet guns, so I'll show one by one my Quiver with individual picture, a write up of the specs and a little review.

In the mean time this is my quiver in it's entirety

That's quite the "Quiver".  What is the biggest game you have taken with an Air gun?

Yeah Mike, those where previous to this one, this is a 2009 model, they changed the sear since than, now to cock it you have to have the safety off, than can put it on again after cocking.

NTD haven't being able to put the crosshairs on a pig yet, word must have gone out that I doubbled my range from bows, and can take head shots now, because I haven't seen a porker in months  :(

Very cool Manny.

So how many pumps does it take to get up to what pressure?  And where do you even find pumps like that?  They don't look like they're from the Walmart bike section... ;D

No no Walmart here  :D  ..this pumps run at 200-250 bucks,  my .50 cal, 2 shots than need about 100 pumps, the .45 cal 3 shots, than 50 pumps, and so on, depends on the power of the gun.

Side note :

Airguns can be tweeked to increase power, or "TUNED" in the airgun world lingo, with a simple change of the hammer sping, opening up of the valves you can ad a lot of power, all my guns but for one are stock, one I sent out to get supercharged allready,  some of the others will be going thru a supercharging session at some point in the future  ;D

will explaing as I review each gun ;)

DAISY Powerline 880 .177 cal

This little cheap rifle is surprisingly accurate, being a pump action it has no recoil so it's easy to keep it steady, with a simple 4x32 scope it has taken several birds up to 30 yards.

I shoot the Crosman premier hollowpoint 7.4gr  probably in the 600 fps range

It's a bit of a pain to pump it up 10 times, and breaching a pellet is definatly a pain, but overall a nice little gun definatly a good starter for my doughter

GAMO  Hunter sport   .177 cal

This powerfull break barrel spring rifle is a pleasure to shoot, very, very accurate, little recoil and very light cocking action, phisycally real light it's easy to carry around.

with a Centerpoint  3-9x40 and 10.5gr Discovery hollowpoints that travel at allmost 900 fps this is a deadly little rifle

I'm curious about why almost all of these weapons have scopes. I have always shunned scopes in favor of iron sights, except for starlight scopes.

Cause They are Manny's Guns.....and that's the way He wanted them....... ;D..... :P..... ;)

When I am shooting high speed Metallic Projectiles at small targets....I  would opt for a scoped Rifle.....over a wounded target any day......a Mynah Bird is a pretty small and hyper little Target to hit.....plus I am sure that living on a small Island in the Pacific.....people frown at bullets just flying around aimlessly untill they hit something or just run out of energy....JMO

totally agree that open sight are more soulfull, If I could hit a dime from 35 yards with open sight I surely would go that way, ...since I can't I take a scope ;D

airguns don't have exactly the greatest knock down power, pinpoint precision is more the name of the game  ;D

...also if you look carefully, the majority of my guns don't even have open sights  :D

O.K. next one up is open sights

....ho yeah, I doubt I could have had this 50 yards hit open sights  :)

Benjamin   Super Streak .22 cal

This powerfull break barrel springer is just about at the top of the spectrum for magnum .22 spring powered airifles

It shoots the Discovery 14.3gr Hollowpoint in the mid 900s fps

This is a really phisically heavy rifle, cocking action is very light considering the power, it has a wicked recoil making it really hold sensitive, to get any kind of accuracy with this rifle the artillery hold is a must, otherwise you'll be spaying pellets everywhere, but if you do your part right the rifle is as accurate as needed.

the recoil/side to side twang is so mean that it killed the 1st scope, and the next 2 wouldn't keep zero, so I decided to go open sights  ( not much of a choice there  :D )

Benjamin  TRAIL NP XL  .22

This is the nitro piston version of the Super Streak, again we are at the top of the spectrum for power here.

The big advantage of the nitro piston is that unlike the springers it can be left cocked all day ( big advantage hunting)

This gun has a shrouded barrel too, making it very, very quite, all you can hear is the pellet hitting home  ;D

The gun still has a lot of recoil, but is more a predicteble back and forth (rather than back forth side to side like springers)  it's still hold sensitive so again artillery hold is a must.

I put an aftermarket match grade trigger on from Charlie da Tuna, and now this gun is just fantastic !!!

It comes with Weaver/Piccanity railing

Shooting the JSB 18.1gr Domed at just shy of 900 fps giving about 25-26 FPE, that's real good hunting energy.

The combination of power, quietness, and being able to keep it cocked make this a great hunting rifle.

EVANIX   Rebel   .22

We now enter into a totally different real of airgunning, PCP, or Precharged Pneumatics  have a chamber that is filled with high pressure air, this type of rifles can acieve much more power than the pump or spring ones, on top of that they are pretty much recoiless making them much, much more accurate to shoot.

This powerfull Korean gun comes out of the box tuned very high allready, I sent this one out to get supercharged and now I get a wopping 900+ fps with the 18.2gr Crow Magnums Hollowpoint, this is very good hunting energy out of a pistol ( this was actually the take down version that I reshaped the stock)

this gun is a 6 shot revolver with single and double action, I get a good 12 shots at full power from one charge.

EVANIX   Rainstorm  .22

....This is NOT your father pellet gun !!

English, Germans, and Swedish might make more refined and expensive guns of this type, but the Koreans surely make much more powerfull ones, and as of late they are getting real close.

This beautifully made carabine just came out, it's just an outastanding gun that shoots the 21.1gr Barracudas at 1000 fps, can cover a 35 yards 10 shot group with a dime and since the barrel is shrouded all you can hear is the ping of the hammer and the pellet hitting hard, real hard.

This is a fantastic hunting weapon, I had some (not a lot) pass through on a 2x4 from 25 yards, I'll have no reservation to take a headshot at a pig if the situation arises.

The butter smooth side lever action feeds the 10 rounds magazine flawlessly, no need to take your eye of the target, with a fill I get 22-23 full power shots before the Point of impact changes

The gun is small and light, with a really well shaped and comfortable stock

SHINSUNG         CAREER 707 ULTRA 9mm

Now we are entering the realm of big bore airgunning.

This fantastic Korean gun is extremely powerfull and accurate, the 5 round magazine and lever action give you fast follow up shot capability.

I shoot the .360 cal  70gr roundball, with a muzzle velocity of over 1000 fps gives over 140 FPE, I get over 15 full power shots with a fill, that's good shot count if you're out in the woods a long time

I have no reservation watsoever in taking headshots on porkers with this gun, the pinpoint precision surely gives lots of confidence.

the gun has a power adjusting weel in case you don't want to use her at full power.

in the video I'm shootin from 35 yards at a 2x4, a coconut, a tin can full of hard paked mud and one full of gravel, I was more testing the power than paying attention at accuracy.

Dennis Quackenbush is an American artist, only makes 50 guns a year and to get on his list is has hard as to win the Lotto, I was lucky to find 2 of his guns in the 2nd hand market, his guns are so good that a used one cost twice as much has a brand new custom gun.

This baby shoots the 116gr (far left) at 750 fps and the 75gr (far rigth)  at 900 fps

This Korean gun is well known for being exrtremely accurate, at the moment mine is stock and shoots the 150gr ammo at 800 fps for over 200 FPE, I'm going to send her out to get tuned and it will shoot the 200gr ammo at over 800 fps  and the 150gr at about 950 fps for over 300 FPE

DAQ Outlaw .50

I converted this pistol to a carabine, this is my go to gun for those long mountain climbing hunts.

she shoots the 222gr slug at 750 fps or the 183 at 900 fps for a nice 300 FPE

Interesting thread.  I never realized there was such a variety of air guns out there.
