This is a hackberry longbow. 64" NTN 46# @ 27" I wanted this bow to look old, like drift wood. I stained it with walnut stain then sanded portions of it and re-stained. I finished it with tru-oil. It shoots like a dream - really a fast bow and smooth shooting. (http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/RangerB/CIMG8743.jpg)

SWEET, Jimmy! I like that profile and that overlay looks pretty cool.

Great looking bow Jimmy. I just wish you guys would quit posting pics with all that bow wood in the background. It makes me want to go cut down the whole forest. ;D

0209 - I enlisted in 1986 and was commissioned in 91' so 24 total with 19 of that being an officer. Seems like I began this journey only yesterday. All I ever wanted to do was teach high school history but the good Lord saw fit to let me play Army in the interim - 24 years later I'm still playing.

Looks real nice Jimmy I will see you and the bow soon, leaving for Pappy's this evening:)

Awesome job on that bow, Jimmy. That's about where the weight ended up on the one I made and I really enjoy it. Mine has lifted a splinter though on the back, so I superglued it and am thinking I'll do a layer over the top of some cloth. We'll see.
I really like the profile and the beat up look. Very nice. Hope it brings you luck!

Good looking shooter you have made

That sure is one high speed, low drag bow you made there, airborne. Very nice.

Looks like a well made and powerful weapon to me. Bookmarked for BOM, too.

Ranger B,
I was thinking about you awhile back wondering if you were doing well and back from Afganastan. Then a day or two later I noticed you posted in the LW about building another Hackberry Hammer. I haven't sought posting previliges on that site so didn't respond at the time. Now I see you have it all ready for this fall's deer season. Good for you, bad for the whitetail population in Tennessee!
My son, a Marine, was involved in the Marjah champain, recently. He is home now due to an IED taking out their MATV and his nose in a decisive manner. The truck was a loss but he is healing up very well and terrorizing all his buddies and old haunts while on medical leave. Good to have him back in the states.
Glad you are back, too. I imagine your family is grateful for that, as well.
God Bless in Jesus' name and thank you for your service.

Christopher,
I hope your son heals up quickly. Tell him we're thinking about and thanking God that he's home with relatively minor wounds. I am grateful for all those who continue to pray for us - trust me they are felt. I have had so many people coming up to me at the Classic talking about the war and telling me how they prayed for me. It's a great feeling to know that so many genuinely care for our Soldiers so on behalf of all of us thank you!
