Hi all! - Just put a buckskin handle on a rawhide backed maple backed black walnut pyramid bow, made from a BW board. Short of 40# at 29". Had a problem with a splinter lifting on belly side for the fade outs being too steep, repair was successful.
The bow's back is painted with India ink, the finish is shellac, which I tried on rawhide for the first time and it really makes a beautiful surface.
I'll post some more pics, when I get nicer ones taken in better light.
Thanks for looking.

Very nice work. Did you come up with the design yourself and how long did it take to do??
-
Thanks Cromm.
The design is based on one I saw on a bow by Ed Scott; took like 2 hours to accomplish.
-
That's a beauty,very talented. :) Just love that paint job. :)

Everytime I think i've figured out some really great design to paint a bow(still tryin to finish my 1st one) I see something like this...Well, back to the drawing board...
In other words...WOW!!!
When I finish my first one (w/o snapping) I have a lot of fantastic ideas to draw from.
Beautiful design

Functional art, gotta love it.

wow, I have to say, ganz toll, und sehr schon.
That's really slick. It's a great looking bow to begin with, and the art really adds to it. wicked cool visual appeal.
The overlays on the tips look great too, very nicely done.
Mehr fotos, bitte? =)

... The full draw pic is a thing of beauty... for some reason I just keep going back to look again. :)
...I wonder why...?? 8) 8) 8) (She is my music student, and she only started archery last year; she had that stance from minute one on, and I guess she'll move to like 45# of draw very soon)
Again thank you all together, really glad (and a bit surprised, too...) you all like the artwork!
The one guy at the club always teases me for painting some of my bows, but he 'kninda' liked this one... ;D ;D ;D
Have to give some credit to Mr. Ed Scott for the inspiration, and I'm thinking about trying a how-to since there seems to be much interest!

This is typical fine craftsmanship that Frank produces. A serious contender for April Laminate Bow of the Month. Thanks-medicinewheel!
-
I said it at FC in German and I have to repeat it here in English: A great bow and very fine craftmanship - I like it very much.
-
Thanks Don, Thanks again Niels!

Hi there medicinewheel,That is a great job. I always love original designs, and tapered bows . Like the holmegaard bow. I am building a walnut laminated bamboo backed bow.I am waiting on Dave to ship new stock of bamboo. I will post later. But your bow is just out of this world.! Like the painting. I like to back my bows with elk hide.I live just down the road from a brain tanner , who is a dear friend, no pun intended.lol Keep up the good work, Can't wait to see the next one. Denny
