That looks like one big tree full of work. ;) I think you guys live in the "Enchanted Osage Forest"
-
You see who is doing the work. Mike makes his Dad do all the hard stuff. ;D
-
I got a half log from a farmer once, was gonna use it for corner post, paid him $20 for it. It had 100 rings and yielded 36 clean staves.
so to answer your question Mike......I'll say, a BUNCH! ;)
-
I'll have to agree - that's a biggun and lots of staves. Reminds me of a little visit with Ridgerunner in AL, we had quite the day ;D.

Don't think I've ever seen an osage trunk that straight. You've got some beautiful staves there.
-
Been there, done that! :)

Mike up here in Illinois I get a-lot of wind shake seperaation in Osage trees that big. Is that as big a problem where you are from? And it always looks like your Osage has a darker bark than in Illinois. Dean

Just for the record... That log that Cowboy is setting on split out 18 staves.

dean those big ones do have a lot of cracks,,,I just split with the cracks,,if you dont they will crack later anyway,,,,I like the inside splits from the big ones,,I had been passing on this tree for 10 years,,I could not stand it anymore I cut about 10 of these big trees yesterday,,I only brought one log per tree home,,if they split good I will go back and get the rest,,
