Sleek but dangerous. The movie Casino Royale should have edited it in. Looking forward to seeing this again next week for March Self Bow of the Month.

Sweet bow Manny.  You and Tim Baker can have a narrow tip competition.  I think he got them down to 1/8" on one bow.  If I'm not mistaken, Jaro got down to 5/16" tips on a 130# bow.  You're rollin' with the best there.  Does it have any shock?

If that bow isn't fast, we all need to quit.

Thanks guys,

J.D. yeah this bow is snappy, faster than heavyer bows of about the same length.... no handshock

It will be a great bow for when I get older and have to drop poundage Ryan ;D ;D

BTW, where do you mesure the nocks ? always wondered,..I think I can get them thinner

Manny, super sweet bow! How the heck do you keep all that reflex with such a short bow? How much did you start with? Also how many times did you belly temper? That's got to be a rocket launcher!
Title: Re: Guava shortbow
Post by: NOMADIC PIRATE on March 23, 2007, 11:16:02 pm
Thanks guys.

Jbell, This was a quality stave I was keeping for a mean bow, but I got some back damage by grubs >:(so I had to make a short bow.

It was quality wood, started with 3 1/2" reflex, and tempered it heavyly a few times, it has a really low mass, and yes it's quick ;D

Anyone that is ever able to make it to the Island is more than welcome to give me a call.

I'll take you out to harvest some wood, but you better be ready to climb steep slippery slopes with a heavy load ;D ;D
...or I can just do it for you ;)just give me some moral support ;D

If 58 is short for you then what's long?  :D very nice bow.
I like shortbows more than long ones. to me the line goes somewhere around 52 inches. above that they are all long to me.

Thanks guys ;) ;)

finnish, I've made 2 shortbows following the ABC challenge, yeah they shot good ..but not so good in hunting situations.

Lately I've being making bows in the 64" range, but I'm going back to the 66-68" ones, absolutely the most effective hunting weapons (for me at least ;D)

Hey Manny, not sure how this one slipped by me. just saw it on the BOM. Your bows are always such good quallity that I try not to miss any of them. And this one is no exception. Awesome work as always, I love those signiture needle tips of yours.  You really do have your own style. I think any of us could look at one of your bows and know that Manny made that one.   Good luck on the BOM     Keenan
