Title: Backing question
Post by: Easternarcher on March 11, 2010, 04:26:57 pm
I'm ready to glue up my Jatoba bow this weekend, but I'm undecided as to how to back it....Bamboo or hickory?
Shooting for 64-66 in and 45-50lbs at 28in. limbs are 1 3/8" or maybe abit more out of the fades. My only other Jatobe developed cracks just past the fades on both limbs so I thought abit wider would lessen the stress in those spots.

So...boo or hickory?

either will work, but I'd use hickoy.

You figure the boo may overpower the jatoba?

I think hickory is a little more reliable than bamboo.  Just me though.
