Title: box elder ???

any one ever make a selfbow using Box Elder? would make a beautiful bow using the swirlling colors that are in some trees. if so please post some pics.

Its on the lower part of list of poor bow woods.  But I bet a nice little 30# bow could be made for a youth or young lady and it would be pretty.

yeah i agree it wouldnt be a performer,but it be fun to give one a go.

we had one in our yard when i was growing up.
them things are so brittle,you ran past it and the ground vibration from your feet and the breeze you would cause by running was damn near
enough to cause it to drop a branch or two

maybe back it with a nice thin piece of hickory,keep it wide and long
that way when it breaks you will have some cool looking tomato stakes  ;D
