Title: Help with First Warbow Please
Post by: deerhunter97370 on March 04, 2010, 12:15:41 am
I will be starting a warbow in the Spring (I need a new hunting bow first) Im going to use a 6 foot Pacific Yew stave. So I was wondering what width I should have it for about a 125# bow. Thanks for any advice. Joel

With a 6' stave (and you will loose a couple of inches with the horn nocks) you are going to get some serious set or worse at 125.  Can you get a longer stave?

About 1 1/2" would be a good starting point, though I'd rough out to being a bit more than that (say 1 3/4") then gradually reduce the width as you get the bow down to the right weight and tiller.

Thanks for the advise Yeomanbowman and Et tu Brute. I think Ill try the 1 1/2" width and see what I get. Wish me luck.
