Title: Eagle Quiver
Post by: Rickd on February 27, 2010, 03:00:38 pm
I made this quiver for a fella and he lost his job and couldnt pay for it..He wanted real feathers hanging from it but I couldnt see doing that..I had Wei do two feathers on it for me..Quiver is made from stained elkhide and lined in a 4/5 ounce leather..The scrimshawed elk antler burr was also done by Wei lonewolf..

     Actually, Aweful means, awesome.  It was used in olden times, and in the biblical times.  They said Jesus was Aweful.  Meaning he was awe inspiring, or made you full of awe...... ;)  So Uwe is not out of order in his choice of words from his second language.  As apperaing smarter, I am sure he also speaks other languages, also, how many do you speak? :)  And I have no doubt, he in no way meant anything disrespectful. ;)

    Rickd;
    P.S, that is an "Awesome" Amazing, and fantastic quiver. :o  My sympathy to the guy who lost his job.  Unfortunately I don't see things getting any better, for a few years, if then.  That was in deed a very kind thing you guys did for him.  I am sure he will treasure it.  It is gifts like that, that are hand made, and made pride, and given from the heart that store bought just can't compare with.  Awesome Eagle too. :)

Thanks for your help Wayne. Indeed, I should have said "awesome"! The word awful is also meant dreadful or even "God- awful".

     You are welcome Uwe, actually it is the " E " that makes the difference between the two.  Aweful vs awful.  One meaning awe inspiring, and one meaning  terrible, bad, et cetera.  It has been misused for some time.  It is usually now just awful. and you have to use it in the context of it's meaning at the time.  The English language is not the most organized, or well thought out language.  Especially on the spelling.  There was famous author here a long time ago, by the name of Ogden Nash.  He supposedly had big reward for the person or persons who could change the English language into a phonetic language.  Some things make no sense at all.  Like the spelling of "psychology", or "Pneumonia".......You don't pronounce the " P " because it is silent.   Uh....if it is silent, why is it there?  No big deal.  Life goes on.  Any more prehistoric finds?  Did you ever find out if the jaw was from a bear?

No Wayne! I had been there after the iceblocks had melted. There were bones, china and those stuff, but nothing to say its prehistoric. I must have to do some more visits to the old campside. IŽll meet some archeologists in the early summer. I`ll send those pictures to a friend of mine. She is a studied archeologist, too. I`ll see what she means about.
