Angelus Mortis - Latin for: Angel of Death >:D
Well guys I finally got her done...the some of you said would never shoot. She took some time but was well worth the wait! Osage, backed with 3 layers of leg sinew and western diamond back skins. My first attempt at recurves, my first attempt at sinew and my first attempt at snakeskins. The grip is hemp cord and I used true oil on the whole thing. The tip overlays are also osage. She is 56" tip to tip and 54" nock to nock, strung she is 50" tip to tip. She pulls 50lbs @ 25" and flings an arrow with authority! I gave her Angelus Mortis as a name because I hope she brings an honorable death to a lot of God's creatures. This has by far been the most annoying, punishing yet rewarding bows I've made! Hope you guys enjoy! ;D ;D

Most excellent! A short, powerful recurve >:D certainly gets my attention. Bookmarked, too!
-
I like it! the bow looks great but it looks like you could draw about 30''
-
Very nice Kyler!

Now, them are some curves. Very nice work! 8)

Absolutely beautifully done. The recurves look great, the length is perfect for the full effect of the sinew, and the skins for camouflage on the hunt. Prefect set up all wrapped in great finish work that any artist would be proud of. Congratulations.

YOU MADE IT !!!
Seriously, I don't think I've seen this done more radical!
BOM?? ... well ... PA is sort of the same thing than PB... it's mostly about the curves anyway... >:D >:D >:D

So first of all I want to say thank you to everyone for the comments....they may have come too soon though :'( while stringing the bow today I heard a crackin noise...i got the string off and didn't find any cracks in the wood but the sinew/skin started to lift right on the curve of the bottom limb :-[ :-[ so now I have to try and repair this...Im thinking a sinew wrap or hemp wrap? will either of these save her?

Man, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you...!
-
LOL thanks for your support medicinewheel! Im gonna try pumping the small area full of super glue and then wrap the area in sinew...(then the other recurve too just to be safe)...I think it should be ok, Im just glad it happened while i was stringing it and not shooting it! I'll post pics of the repair job as soon as I get it done...Im starting to think this bow likes me working on it...it doesn't seem to want to be finished yet >:( >:(

Good luck on your repair.. Remember to let it sit and dry awhile before stringing it again, especially if you are using sinew... I hope it works I really like this bow! :) -josh

Gotcha! Thanks for the humble heads up.
