Ok, so I know I might be breaking a few "rules" here. It is walnut, I don't have any BL or Osage, that's why it's a "wide" d-bow.
It is 55" ntn 43#@25" but have drawn it to 27. Not quite the diamond ends that I have seen in drawing of Cherokee hunting bows because I took a little too much off one end while floor tillering. It is 1.5" at the handle and tapers to 5/8" at the nock. This one was fun because I have never built a bendy handle bow more than 15# before. Shoots reall smooth and is zippier than I thought it would be. takes an initial 1.5 inches of set but overnight loses about half an inch after resting.
I haven't finished it yet so I am up to any ideas you all might have, stain, paint, just tru-oil?
Built it to go along with the forsythia shafts I posted in arrows (there is a pic of them here too).

Since it's Cherokee have ya thought about traditional painted characters on the belly?
-
Nice work!

Nice profile, you have it bending just right. Bet you can drive tacks with it.

Thanks for all the nice words everyone! I think I might try some trad. character painting on it. If anyone has a picture or two to post so as to get some idea I would appreciate it. I can't find much on the web and I have none of the TBB's to go to.
Thanks

Very Nice...I love D-Bows....but I agree with Frank...could use a little more Bend...the Center seems to be doing a lot of Work..and the ends of boths limbs are along for the Ride...JMO

Nice looking bow and I like that tiller with slightly stiff tips, especially with a short draw :)
-
I like the bow..great job and the arrows too. Are those two fletch? Very nice.I'm working on the finshing touches on a cherokee d bow and I think I'm gonna make some cane arrows for it. I made mine with slightly stiff tips also because I was worried about finger pinch.

Frank, Mike, after shooting a little I think I agree with you on bending more mid to outer limb. As I was tillering I thought it looked good but as you draw it back you can really feel the center doing a lot of work. Good eye guys and I will use your suggestion, that's why I post stuff on here. Just trying to learn! Have a ways to go yet.
God bless

Just go Slow Mark...wont take much to get them working more...good luck and post pictures...
and Straightarrow ....as for Finger Pinch...I have never come across a case of Finger Pinch from a Bow bending too much at the Tips...it's always been caused by too short a Bow for a Long Length of Draw ...this is going to pinch your fingers

Great tiller and looks primitive which is what this site is about! Nice and bookmarked for February BOM fun, too.

Since When is Primitive what Wins BOM.............. ;D

Nice bow, can't wait to see the finished pics!
-
Ok here it is now finished.
first off I retillered it a bit to get the mid limb to tip moving a bit more, wanted it to look more authentic so I dyed this walnut to look like osage. then I painted a little design on the back (how authentic that is I don't know). Made an artificial sinew string and added a jute wrap handle.
