Whewww! Whewww! :-\ ;D
Here's a little sample of some of that Jeff Utley Tallahatta quartzite.
I'm not sure whether I like it, or hate it. It'll sure tell on you when you screw up.

I told ya, huh? ;D
-
I want some. ;D
-
Nice!

You were right Eddie. It'll work just fine with copper. It might do better with hammerstones or antler, but I couldn't do any better with those. I did notice it seemed to work better with a heavy bopper as compared to a lighter one. You'll come across spots in the rock that I don't think it would matter what ya hit it with...it ain't moving!
I done most of the finish work on the Pickwick with antler. The beaver lake started out going to be a dalton until I checked my book and found no dalton points in that region.
-
man you are akin to Geronimo or something you are making awesome points.
-
very nice chippin shannon

Doesn't appear as if you had any problem with it Shannon. What steps? Those are nice! Those notches don't wanna run very deep though huh ::)?
-
They sure don't Paul. Believe it or not though, that's as deep as I wanted them. I made that one for Jeff to haft to an arrow.
I doubt I could have went much farther anyway.
-
Those are cool.
Very nice comberland.
-
Nice work, Shannon. That Beaver Lake/Simpson looking one is awesome. I likes me some Tallahatta. It'll sure cut you up, too.
-
I wish you would get some of that yellow stuff out of your creek.
-
Eddie, I ain't wadin' in that river at least til the ice melts off the edges. :) I'll get us some before the classic.
-
That's good work on that Tallahatta. Where did yo get the information about the Daltons? Bill
-
Bill, I didn't see one in my Overstreet book. After thinking about i'm sure they can be found in that region too.
-
Overstreet only shows the pretty ones. Just about every type of southeastern point was made from Tallahatta. For a large part of Alabama and Mississippi, it is pretty much the only knappable stone. Bill
