Title: Simple arrows
Post by: Dakotian on January 12, 2010, 04:45:24 pm
I took these pictures back when we still had heat and life in this area now I've finally got around to posting them. This is the style of arrow I've been making in my apartment. everything is bought so all I did was assemble them, they work quite well for my bows. Unfortunatly hot pink nocks were all they had, I would've taken any other color. The shafts believe it or not are poplar dowel rods, and I know they probably aren't the best arrow shafts, but since the usual fate of my arrows is being lost somewhere, I didn't really care, if one does break, well then I'll just go out and buy another dowel. So how do they look?

I use poplar and ramin wood dowells for my stump shooting and small game arrows.  I just sand them down 'til they spine the same as my cedar shafts and fletch 'em and put on home made points or .38 special casing blunts.

I'm with you.  No sense losing expensive big game arrows in the woods when you can make cheap ones.  I've even gone to spray painting the back half of my stump shooters in blaze orange just to better my chances of finding them in the pine needles.

Yours look good.  Pink nocks and all.

Nice arrows. Using what you have to make what you need is the primitive way.
Glad to see you back on PA. Hope you stay around for a while.

Yep good looking arrows, they look just like some I made many years ago. Simple is good. If you don't like the pink nocks or plastic nocks you could always make and use self nocks, be sure you wrap with sinue or thread so they don't split. Also good to see you back here at P.A.    Kenneth
