I got a chance to stop by Claudes today and take him some rock I had. If I have something different I always share with him. I also had a piece of St Marks pinhead coral that I'd been trying to get all the crud off without destroying this" hard to come by coral." I asked Claude if he thought there might be enough to get a point out of it and this is what he came up with. This piece is really translucent and has bands of tiny, pinhead, polyps.

That is cool over the flashlight, when they are translucent like that it never fails to impress me.

Man! I love that rock! I've came across a few small pieces of Sonora that was very similar to that. Kinda reminds me of smoky quartz.

Nice looking point. That coral looks almost like banded obsidian, but it is a touch harder. ;)

I still think it's Alafia Ledge rock, but I'm not going to argue with Claude. I've been knocking on that piece since last February, a little at a time so I didn't lose it. It was amazing, Claude, in 20 minutes, knocked that piece out , and it is Raw, uncooked coral.
