Hello
Does anyone know how to make a a lamination taper with thickness sander?
Thank You
-
PM a dude named Islandpiper on this Board....He can probably help you out
-
make a tapered block for lamination to sit on and then run it through......
-
I think it would be very difficult with a thickness sander, but it's easy with a jointer.

Quite the opposite....when you start dealing with laminations in the .060 range tear out from jointers and planers is a big problem....with a thickness or drum sander like the performax it is a breeze.
-
OK, can you show us?

Yes, I would love to trade my planer for a thickness sander when doing laminations.

Truth money is an issue....head on over to the pirates of archery site and I am pretty sure you can see lots of lam grinders in various posts. Can I show you???....no, I cannot afford one of those. Can I listen to bowbuilders talk about grinding THIN (like 45 hundredths of an inch) laminations YOU BETCHA. There is a good reason that I order from the guys who do it.
Weekend before last as I was grinding down some big ole bamboo for a BBI on my friends 80 inch belt sander he ground a eight or nine skinny ( ranging from .064 to .110) tapers and parallels on his performax for a couple kids bow projects I have in mind. No tear out and baby but smooth and ready to glue. That is testimony enough for me. They are pricy...I just found a used older model for 850....
