Title: Where do you buy long feathers
Post by: Jaro on October 20, 2009, 05:50:48 am
Hello, three rivers can no longer guarantie more than 5,5"  on their full lenght feathers and the quality went down in last two years in nearly every batch I have seen regardlesss of vendor. I have bought some feather from "Alegheny mountain arrow wood" , but I m unsure what they can supply now.
Where do you buy feathers.? I m looking for 1500 full lenght feathers, so they will make at least 8" long fletching safely.
Thanks for the hints

Jaro

Shiping from UK as well as the prices are usually higher than from US. I m talking 1500 feathers, looking to resuply my friends here who attempt to shoot medieval arrows.
But we likelly gonna get them from the suplier Marlon adviced, thanks.

In my country we dont eat turkey at christmass eve,we have the carp. The tradition itself suggest that what we are lacking in turkey farms, we compensate in fish ponds.  Needles to say fish scales are dificult to cut BLBS standart shape.  >:D >:D >:D

Hi,
some weeks ago this chineese store sent hundreds of long white goose pointers.
Now not, but maybe you want to wait or contact them.

Thank you David. We are now on something like 2000 feathers, more people will order at once and split once they are here, hopefully we will find something.

You can check with Stefan Raab in Germany and he will email a pricelist. Email--info@traditional archery.de.
He offers turkey feathers 9-12" full length, ground. I haven't ordered turkey feathers buy have gotten others that were as advertised. I have gotten swan feathers that would be the right length.

I spoke with a supplier here and they say that their source has made the decision to not guarantee the length of commercial grade above 5 1/2", based upon a decision to reduce wastage and maximise output from untrimmed stock.
The market for 6" to 12" feathers is quite small when set against the world-wide volumes for hunting and target.
