Title: the future of archery
Post by: Granite Mtn on October 10, 2009, 12:16:10 pm
Last winter my son Hayden was working in my shop with me and told me he wanted to make a bow and arrow set for his best friend Ben.  Ben is in my sons preschool class.  We made the bow and arrows for Ben after I asked his dad if it would be ok with him.  I can't remember all the details of the bow but that kids eyes lit up when Hayden gave it to him.  The shot for hours in the back yard,  looking at the pics makes me smile every time hope it has the same effect on you.

Hayden the one on the left with the crazy release is shooting a bamboo backed yew and Ben is shooting a silk backed osage d/r.  I had forgotten until I saw my own post with the pics.  I have not given my boys any instruction except " use three fingers" I will perfect their form later.  You would not want Hayden shooting at you under 20 yards I can assure you.  He normally shoots slightly low if you Know what i mean.  Her is a pic with dad when they were little.

This is all neat stuff! The bows look top quality in the photos. I have two young boys that took interest at first but can't seem to stay away from the Wii games :'(. Thanks for sharing. Greg

I don't know about correcting his form... did you see the second picture. Looks like two kill shots to me.   Great stuff!

The little blonde standing next to me at the bandsaw in this article is now going on 13. She's 5'-9" now and is going after fall turkeys with a Dano selfbow.
