Started this bow in spring, but didnt get to finish it due to the fact we moved this summer. I finished it up about two weeks ago and took her out for opening day last sat. Didnt see any thing but small bucks, so I will see what we can get next weekend.
This bow is bamboo backed Ipe trilam. It is 65" ntn. 62lbs at 28". A real snappy shooter. It is made of bamboo, ipe, osage. The tips are ipe, osage, and whitetail deer antler. The tip pics never work out for me. They are always blurry. Sorry. The grip is buffalo leather. I wraped the limbs with sisal for aesthetics. I was going to put mescal beans and feathers off of the grip, but it ended up to noisy for my likeing, so they didnt stay. The bow is a slight R-D design.

WOW!

Very handsome looking bow:)

Very nice bow and good luck hunting with it. I was going to ask about the wraping above and below the handle. What is it made from and is it serving a purpose or ornamental? I used gut hafting material set with tbIII once to repair a crack, still holding after thousands of arrows. Again good hunting. Kenneth

Kent, you inspired me to try my first bamboo backed IPE bow and couldn't have done it without yourhelp.. I didn't think I could do it. I want to follow in tracks with trilams,. I love this bow and its smooth curves. This is what I am going to try to make next.
I am just so shocked how nicely osage compliments IPE. Definately got my vote.

Thanks everyone of the kind words.

The wrapes are from a yucca fiber, sisal. It is all for looks. I was going to wrap them agian closer to the tips and put snake skin between them. When softening the skins, one was in bad shape, so I didnt finish the snake skin job.
Mark, just let me know if you have any questions. ;)

Cool bow, and nice looking skull, Kent! Hope you have a good hunt with it soon. Love my bamboo, walnut, osage bow, and you guys are inspiring me to try to build one. Where did you get your bamboo? What species is it? Good shootin, Steve.

Thanks
The boo on this bow was not all that good. It was a piece of moso boo that was rather thin. I wish I coudl find a good source.

Well, she made meat last night. Went out to the river near my place and found this doe. I was surprised, as you can see the exit hole went through part of the shoulder blade. I think ill hold onto this bow a while.

There should be a 'macro' feature on your camera, usually has a flower as an icon, that will do the job. And your tips are certainly worth to be shown focused!
That one nice bow, I bet it's snappy!

Very nice looker! Love the tiller. And congrats on blooding her in. ;)
