Title: New Red Oak Board Bow (NOT BOM)
Post by: NTD on September 05, 2009, 10:11:32 pm
Just finished a board bow made according to Tim Baker's first time bow instructions.  It seems to have turned out alright.  Let me know if you see anything wrong with the tiller.  I still have aesthetic things to finish up like a handle wrapping and stain/finish but it's shooting.  I really was impressed with how quick you can turn out a shootable bow with this design.

It is a red oak board.  70" ntn 1 3/8" wide tapered to 3/8" tips.  50# @28"

No not my first bow.  I made a few bows 10 years ago as a kid in high school.  After too many years of being bowless I got the itch to make bows again and made two in Nov. of 08.  Took another break until this last tuesday.  So not counting the couple bows I made 10 years ago this is my 3rd bow.

Thanks for the compliments guys.  I have 2 more sister boards to this bow that I will start working on next week.  All of you talented bowyer's out there keep this neophyte inspired.  Seeing all your beautiful creations keeps me looking forward to the next bow.

I haven't measure yet I will take brace pics and string follow pics in a few days when I do the finish on it.  It does have some string follow I'd venture a guess of 1 1/2".
